Boundless Daily: Jesus Our Healer

If you are reading this today while dealing with a body that feels like it’s failing you, or a heart that feels heavy with grief, I want you to know something right away: You aren’t invisible.

We live in a world that often moves too fast for people who are hurting. Whether it’s a chronic illness that saps your energy every morning, an injury that won't seem to mend, or the invisible weight of depression and anxiety: pain can make you feel very alone.

But at Boundless Online Church, we believe in a God who sees you. We believe in Jesus, the Great Physician, who doesn’t just offer a quick fix, but a divine touch that can transform everything.

Let’s talk about what it means to experience Jesus as our Healer.

Compassion in Every Step

When you look at the life of Jesus in the Bible, you see a common theme. He was constantly "moved with compassion." He didn't just perform miracles to show off; He did them because He loved people.

He saw the leper that everyone else avoided. He heard the blind man shouting from the side of the road when the crowd told him to be quiet. He stopped for the one.

One of the most beautiful aspects of Jesus’ ministry is that He never turned away someone who came to Him for healing. This is a core part of who He is. In the Assemblies of God 16 Fundamental Truths, we recognize that "Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel."

It’s not an "extra" or a "maybe." It is a gift provided for all believers through the sacrifice Jesus made.

The Story of the Reach

There is a famous story in the Gospels about a woman who had been sick for twelve long years. She had spent every penny she had on doctors, but instead of getting better, she grew worse.

She was physically exhausted and likely socially isolated. But she heard that Jesus was passing through. She didn't need a formal introduction. She didn't need to be at the front of the line. She said to herself, "If I can just touch the hem of His clothes, I will be healed."

She fought through a massive, shoving crowd just to reach out a hand. The moment her fingers brushed the edge of His garment, the power of God flowed into her.

Jesus stopped. In a crowd of hundreds of people pressing against Him, He felt that specific touch of faith. He called her "Daughter" and told her that her faith had made her whole.

Maybe you feel like you are at the end of your rope today. Maybe you’ve tried everything the world has to offer and you’re still hurting. Jesus is still passing by. He is still reachable. He is still responding to the touch of faith.

Healing for the Whole Person

Sometimes we focus so much on the physical body that we forget we are whole beings: spirit, soul, and body.

Jesus often addressed the "inside" before the "outside." Remember the story of the paralyzed man whose friends lowered him through a roof? (Talk about some dedicated friends!)

The first thing Jesus said to that man wasn't "Stand up." The first thing He said was, "Your sins are forgiven."

Jesus knew that the man’s soul needed healing even more than his legs did. He offers a holistic restoration. This means He cares about your PTSD, your broken heart, your addiction, and your negative thought patterns just as much as He cares about your physical ailments.

The Foundation of Healing: The Gospel

How is this healing possible? It isn’t magic, and it isn't just "positive thinking." It is rooted in what Jesus did for us on the Cross.

The prophet Isaiah wrote about Jesus hundreds of years before He was born, saying, "By His stripes, we are healed."

Here is the simple, powerful truth of the Gospel:

  1. We were separated from God. Sin created a gap between us and our Creator, leading to a world filled with brokenness, sickness, and death.

  2. Jesus took our place. He lived a perfect life, but He died a criminal’s death on the Cross. He took the punishment for our sins and the weight of our sicknesses upon Himself.

  3. He rose again. Three days later, Jesus walked out of the grave. He defeated death and the power of the enemy.

  4. He offers us life. When we put our trust in Him, He forgives our sins and begins a work of restoration in us.

If you’ve never made that decision to follow Him, you can do it right now. It starts with a simple conversation with God: admitting you need Him, believing in what Jesus did, and asking Him to be the leader of your life.

Healing begins when we come into a right relationship with the One who made us.

Moving the Barriers

If we believe Jesus is the Healer, why isn't everyone healed instantly? That is one of the toughest questions in the Christian walk. While we don't always understand God's timing, we do know that He invites us to prepare our hearts.

Sometimes, there are barriers in the way. These aren't meant to make you feel guilty, but to help you clear the path for God's Spirit to move:

  • Unforgiveness: Holding onto bitterness can be like a poison to the soul.

  • Unbelief: Sometimes we stop expecting God to move because we’ve been disappointed before.

  • Lifestyle: God often works through wisdom, calling us to care for the "temples" He gave us.

God doesn't take breaks from being good. Even when the healing hasn't manifested yet, His mercy is an ever-present force. He provides grace and comfort in the middle of the pain.

A Community of Faith

At Boundless Online Church, we are a global family. We have people joining us from all walks of life: shift workers looking for hope at 3:00 AM, family caregivers who are exhausted, and those who might be in places where it isn't safe to go to a physical church building.

You don’t have to carry your burden alone. We believe in the power of prayer. We believe that when two or three agree on something in Jesus' name, He is right there in the middle of it.

If you are new to this journey, we invite you to explore more about who we are and what we believe at our I'm New page. You can also listen to stories of hope and faith on our podcasts.

Your Next Step

Healing is often a journey, not just a single event. It requires us to keep our eyes on Jesus every single day.

If you’re hurting today, I want to encourage you to do three things:

  1. Talk to Him. Be honest. He can handle your frustration, your tears, and your questions.

  2. Read the Promises. Open the Bible to the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John) and read the stories of Jesus healing people. Remind your soul of what He can do.

  3. Reach Out. Don't suffer in silence.

We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. No matter where you are or what you are going through, there is a place for you here. Jesus is the Healer, and He is reaching out to you today.

Do you have questions about healing or how to start a relationship with Jesus? We would love to hear from you.
