Ever feel like the ground is shifting under your feet?
It seems like every time we turn on the news or scroll through our feeds, the "truth" has changed. What was certain yesterday is questioned today. For those of us living busy lives: maybe you’re balancing a double shift, caring for an aging parent, or trying to find a moment of peace in a part of the world where following Jesus isn't easy: that constant change can be exhausting.
We need something that stays put. We need a foundation that doesn’t crack when the storms of life hit.
That’s why we’re starting here, at the very beginning of what we believe. In the Assemblies of God, we have what we call the 16 Fundamental Truths. These aren't just dry "rules" or academic theories; they are the anchors for our soul. And the very first one: the big one: is the Inspiration of the Scriptures.
Simply put: The Bible isn't just a great book. It is the Word of God. It stands forever.
What Does "Inspiration" Actually Mean?
When we talk about the Bible being "inspired," we aren't talking about the kind of inspiration a painter feels when they see a beautiful sunset. It’s much deeper than that.
The Greek word used in the New Testament is theopneustos, which literally translates to "God-breathed." Think about that for a second. When you speak, you use your breath to carry your words. When God "breathed" the Scriptures, He was putting His very life and authority into the text.

This doesn't mean the writers were like robots or that they were in a trance. God used real people: fishermen, kings, doctors, and tentmakers: with their own personalities and styles. But through the Holy Spirit, He guided them so perfectly that what they wrote was exactly what He wanted us to have.
It is the infallible rule of faith and conduct. That sounds like "churchy" language, but it really just means the Bible is our North Star. It tells us who God is, who we are, and how we are supposed to live in a world that often loses its way.
Why This Matters for You Right Now
You might be reading this on your phone during a 15-minute break at work. Or maybe you’re up late because you can't sleep, wondering if God even sees what you're going through.
The reason the inspiration of Scripture matters to you today is reliability.
If the Bible were just a collection of human opinions, we could take it or leave it. We could edit the parts we didn't like and ignore the parts that felt too hard. But because it is God-breathed, it carries his power.
When you read a promise in the Bible, like "I will never leave you nor forsake you," that isn't just a nice thought from an ancient writer. It is a direct guarantee from the Creator of the universe. It is a word that stands forever, regardless of how your bank account looks or how your health feels today.
The Miracle of Unity
One of the coolest things about the Bible’s inspiration is how it all fits together.
Think about this: The Bible was written over a span of about 1,500 years by more than 40 different authors on three different continents. They wrote in different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
And yet, from Genesis to Revelation, there is one consistent story. It’s the story of God’s love for us, our fall into sin, and His incredible plan to rescue us through Jesus Christ.

How does that happen without a single "Lead Editor" behind the scenes? It happens because the Holy Spirit was the one doing the breathing. When you dive into Bible Study, you aren't just looking at history; you’re looking at a supernatural masterpiece designed specifically to lead you back to Him.
It’s Our "Manual" for Life
We’ve all bought something: maybe a piece of furniture or a new gadget: and tried to put it together without the instructions. Usually, we end up with extra screws and a wobbly table.
Life is a lot more complicated than a bookshelf.
God didn't leave us here to just "figure it out." He gave us the Scriptures as our guide. Whether you are navigating a difficult relationship, making a career move, or looking for hope in the middle of grief, the Word has something to say.
Because it is inspired, it is "living and active." This means it isn't a dead letter. It speaks to our current situation. The same Holy Spirit who inspired the writing of the Word is the same Holy Spirit who helps you understand it when you read it today.
A Message for the Global Church
At Boundless Online Church, we know that many of you are joining us from places where owning a Bible might be difficult, or where you have to keep your faith a secret.
We want you to know that the Word of God cannot be chained. Even if you only have one verse memorized, that verse is God-breathed and powerful. It carries the full weight of His authority.
For the shift workers and the caregivers who don't have time for a two-hour study session: a single paragraph of Scripture can fuel your soul for the entire day. Because it is inspired, it is dense with life. You don't need to read a hundred pages to meet God; you just need to open your heart to what He has spoken.

Living Out the Truth
So, how do we respond to this truth?
First, we respect it. We don't place our own feelings or the world’s opinions above what God has said. If the Bible says one thing and the culture says another, we stay with the Word. It’s the only ground that doesn't move.
Second, we use it. If you have a Bible, or even a Bible app, don't let it sit idle. Make it a part of your daily rhythm. Even just five minutes in the morning or right before you go to sleep can change your perspective. It reminds you that you are part of a bigger story: a story that ends in victory.
What Do You Think?
We know that diving into the "Big Truths" of faith can bring up a lot of questions. Maybe you've wondered how we got the Bible, or how we know which books belong in it. Those are great questions!
We invite you to reach out. Whether you’re a long-time believer or you’re just starting to explore what this whole "Jesus thing" is about, we are here to walk with you.
You can join the conversation in our Bible Study Club or check out more resources on our Faith and Discipleship page.
The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever. That is a promise you can build your life on.
