Boundless Daily: Why You're Here

Have you ever stared at the ceiling at 2:00 AM and wondered if there is more to your life than just waking up, working, and repeating the cycle?

Maybe you’re working the late shift right now, or you’re a caregiver at home, or perhaps you’re in a part of the world where you feel isolated and disconnected.

Whatever your situation, that nagging question: "Why am I here?": isn't a sign of a crisis. It’s actually a sign of life. It’s a soul-deep realization that you were made for something intentional.

Welcome to today’s Boundless Daily Micro-Study. We’re diving into the heart of finding your purpose.

You Are Not an Accident

The first thing we have to settle is your origin.

In the Assemblies of God 16 Fundamental Truths, we believe that the Scriptures are inspired by God: the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. When we look at those Scriptures, the very first thing we see is a God who creates with intention.

You aren't a byproduct of random chance. You aren't a mistake. You weren't a "surprise" to the Creator of the universe.

God is a Master Architect. Before He ever spoke a star into existence or carved a canyon with a river, He had you in mind.

When we talk about purpose, we have to start with the "Who" before we get to the "What." Your purpose isn't found in your job title or your social media following. It is found in the heart of the One who designed you.

The Purpose We All Share

Sometimes we get so caught up in finding our "special" individual purpose that we ignore the big-picture purpose God has for every human being.

According to the 16 Fundamental Truths, the salvation of man is found only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This is the universal starting point for everyone on the planet.

Your primary purpose: your "Job #1": is to know God.

If you do everything else in the world but miss out on a relationship with Jesus, you’ll always feel like there’s a missing piece in the puzzle. Redemption isn't just about going to Heaven; it’s about restoring the connection between the Creator and the creation.

We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online because we know that once that connection is made, everything else starts to fall into place.

The Power to Move Forward

Finding your purpose is one thing; having the strength to actually live it out is another.

If you feel stuck or drained, you might be trying to fulfill your purpose in your own strength. We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, which is a distinct experience from the new birth. It provides the believer with an endowment of power for life and service.

Think of it this way: if your purpose is the car, the Holy Spirit is the fuel.

You weren't meant to white-knuckle your way through life. Whether you are navigating a difficult family situation, a stressful job, or physical limitations, the Spirit is there to guide you and give you the words, the patience, and the "want-to" that you simply can't manufacture on your own.

Your Unique Blueprint

While we all share the purpose of knowing God and making Him known, you also have a unique "flavor" of purpose.

Think about the things that make you angry (in a righteous way). Think about the things that make your heart beat faster. Think about the skills you have that feel like "second nature."

God doesn't waste anything. He uses your personality, your history (even the messy parts), and your natural talents to reach people that no one else can reach.

If you’re a tech-savvy person, maybe your purpose involves helping others navigate the digital world safely. If you’re a great listener, your purpose might be providing comfort to those in hospice or caregiving roles.

Your purpose is often found at the intersection of the world’s deep hunger and your God-given joy.

The Mission of the Church

Your purpose is also tied to a community. We aren't "lone wolf" Christians.

The Church, as defined in our fundamental truths, is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her Great Commission.

That sounds like big "theology speak," but here’s what it means for you: you have a place in the family.

Whether you join us for Online Worship or dive into a Bible Study Club, you are part of a global mission. Your purpose is linked to the person next to you (or the person on the other side of the screen).

When we work together, we fulfill the Great Commission: reaching the lost and building up the body. Your unique gifts make the whole "Body" work better.

Why It Matters Right Now

We believe in the "Blessed Hope": the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain.

This gives our daily purpose an eternal urgency.

Knowing that Jesus is coming back changes how we view our time. It means that today matters. The way you treat your neighbor matters. The way you pray for your city matters.

Even if you are currently in a "waiting room" season of life: perhaps waiting for a medical breakthrough, waiting for a job, or waiting for a relationship to heal: your purpose hasn't been paused. You are here to represent the light of Christ in the middle of the wait.

Finding Clarity

If you’re feeling a bit lost today, don't panic. Clarity usually comes through movement, not just meditation.

Try these three simple steps this week:

  1. Ask the Architect: Spend five minutes each morning asking God, "What do You want to do through me today?"

  2. Look at Your Hands: What are you already doing? How can you do that "as unto the Lord"? Whether it’s changing a diaper, coding software, or driving a bus, do it with the heart of a servant.

  3. Connect with the Body: Don't try to figure this out in a vacuum. Join a conversation. Check out our Faith & Discipleship resources to see how others are walking this out.

Let's Talk About It

What is one thing you know you’re "good at" that could be used to help someone else?

Do you have questions about how to identify your spiritual gifts?

We’d love to hear from you. We are a community of seekers and believers who are all learning what it means to live "Boundless" lives for a God who has no limits.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need someone to agree with you in prayer about your next steps, we are here. You don't have to carry the weight of "figuring it out" all by yourself.

Sometimes, the first step toward finding your purpose is simply admitting you need a little help finding the path.
