Building Unshakeable Faith: Trusting What We Cannot See

Faith becomes unshakeable when I stop demanding perfect visibility and start trusting the character of God. Even when I cannot see the full path, I can rest in His promises, stay rooted in Scripture, and keep walking with Jesus one step at a time. That is how steady, resilient faith is formed in real life.
Have you ever stood at a crossroads in life, wondering if God was really there? Maybe you've faced a situation that seemed impossible: a diagnosis, a broken relationship, a job loss, or simply the weight of everyday uncertainty. If so, you're not alone. Every single one of us has moments when our faith feels shaky, when we desperately want to trust but struggle to see the path forward.
Here's the beautiful truth: faith isn't about having all the answers. It's about learning to trust the One who does. And the even better news? Building unshakeable faith isn't reserved for spiritual superheroes. It's for regular people like you and me: people who doubt, question, stumble, and get back up again.
Today, let's explore what it really means to trust what we cannot see and discover practical ways to strengthen your faith journey.
Bible Study: Understanding Hebrews 11:1

One of the most powerful definitions of faith in all of Scripture comes from Hebrews 11:1:
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (NIV)
Let's break this down together.
Faith is confidence. The Greek word used here is hypostasis, which means "substance" or "foundation." Faith isn't wishful thinking or crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. It's a firm foundation: something solid you can stand on even when circumstances around you feel anything but stable.
Faith is assurance. The word elegchos means "conviction" or "evidence." Here's what's remarkable: your faith itself becomes the evidence of things unseen. When you choose to believe God's promises, that belief creates a reality in your heart that circumstances cannot shake.
Reflection Questions for Your Week:
What are you hoping for right now that requires faith?
Where do you need God's assurance in your life today?
Can you recall a time when God proved faithful even when you couldn't see the outcome?
The heroes of faith in Hebrews 11: people like Abraham, Sarah, Moses, and Rahab: weren't perfect. They had doubts. They made mistakes. But they kept walking with God, day by day, choice by choice. And that's exactly what God is inviting you to do.
Why Faith Feels Hard (And Why That's Okay)
Let's be honest: trusting what we cannot see is hard. We live in a world that demands proof, evidence, and guarantees. Our brains are wired to seek certainty and control. So when God asks us to step out in faith, it can feel like He's asking us to jump off a cliff.
But here's what I want you to know: doubt doesn't disqualify you from faith. In fact, working through doubt can actually strengthen your relationship with God.
Think about it this way: a relationship where you never ask questions isn't a deep relationship. When you bring your doubts, fears, and questions to God, you're engaging with Him authentically. And He can handle it. He's big enough for your biggest doubts. Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails.

Three Keys to Building Resilient Faith:
Life Hack: Start an Evidence Journal
Here's a practical tool that can revolutionize your faith walk: the Evidence Journal.
The concept is simple but powerful. Every single day, write down one small way you saw God work in your life. It doesn't have to be dramatic. Maybe it's:
An unexpected encouragement from a friend
A moment of peace in the middle of chaos
A bill that got paid when you weren't sure how
A verse that spoke directly to your situation
A stranger's kindness that brightened your day
Why does this work? Because we humans are forgetful. We experience God's faithfulness, and then life gets busy, and we forget. An Evidence Journal creates a written record of God's goodness that you can look back on when faith feels hard.

When doubt creeps in, open your journal. Read through the evidence. Remind yourself: God has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again.
I encourage everyone in our Boundless community to try this for 30 days. You'll be amazed at how much your perspective shifts when you start actively looking for God's fingerprints in your everyday life.
Movie Review: Miracles from Heaven (2016)
If you need a powerful reminder that faith can sustain us through impossible circumstances, add Miracles from Heaven to your watch list.
This faith-based film tells the true story of the Beam family, whose daughter Annabel suffers from a rare, incurable digestive disorder. The movie doesn't shy away from the raw, painful reality of watching a child suffer. It honestly portrays the mother's struggle with her faith as she questions why God would allow such pain.
What makes this movie special:
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5 stars)
Miracles from Heaven is a beautiful reminder that even when we can't see what God is doing, He's working behind the scenes. Perfect for a family movie night or a moment when you need your faith refreshed.
Your Daily Affirmation

Speak this truth over yourself today and every day this week:
"My faith is growing stronger every single day."
Write it on a sticky note. Set it as a reminder on your phone. Say it out loud when doubt whispers lies. Your words have power, and when you align your words with God's truth, transformation happens.
Remember: faith isn't about feeling strong. It's about trusting a strong God even when you feel weak. And every day that you choose to trust Him, your faith muscles grow a little stronger.
