A Message from FA Memphis
Does God hear my prayers? The short answer is a resounding yes. According to Biblical truth, God is omniscient and attentive to every whisper, groan, and silent thought. Whether you are in a season of joy or a desert of silence, Scripture assures us that God listens. He doesn’t just hear the words; He understands the heart behind them, promising to be near to those who call upon Him.
What the Bible Says About Prayer
Before we dive into the "why" and "how" of prayer, let’s look at the foundation. God’s Word is filled with promises that He is not only capable of hearing us but is actively leaning in to listen.
Isaiah 65:24 – "Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear."
1 John 5:14 – "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
Psalm 34:17 – "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles."
Romans 8:26 – "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."
When the Room Feels Empty
We’ve all been there. You’re tucked away in your room, or maybe you’re driving home after a long shift, and you pour your heart out. You ask for a miracle, for guidance, or just for a little bit of peace. And then... nothing. The silence can feel heavy. It can make you feel like your words are just bouncing off the ceiling.
It’s in those moments that the enemy loves to whisper lies. He wants you to believe that you aren’t "holy enough" to be heard, or that God is too busy running the universe to care about your specific struggle. But the truth is, God’s hearing isn’t based on your performance. It’s based on His character.

God’s Omniscience: He Already Knows
One of the most comforting truths in the Bible is that God is omniscient, He knows everything. He doesn't need you to give Him an update on your life. He’s already there.
In fact, God knows what you need before you even formulate the words. You might be struggling to find the "right" religious language, but God isn't looking for a formal speech. He’s looking at your heart. He hears the "tired mama" prayers whispered over a sleeping toddler. He hears the "I don't know what to do" prayers muttered in a hospital waiting room. He even hears the prayers that are just tears and heavy sighs.
At Boundless Online Church, we believe that prayer is the direct line to the Creator. It’s not about how loud you speak or how many big words you use. It’s about the connection between a child and a Father.
The "Yes, No, and Wait" of Prayer
If God hears everything, why does it sometimes feel like He’s not answering? This is where we have to distinguish between hearing and answering.
God always hears, but His answers come in different forms:
Yes: Sometimes the door opens immediately. The healing happens, the job offer comes, or the peace floods in.
No: Sometimes God says no because He has something better, or because what we’re asking for might actually harm us in the long run. A "no" from God is often a "yes" to His protection.
Wait: This is the hardest one. Waiting isn’t passive; it’s a time of growth. If you find yourself in a season of silence, it might be that God is working on things behind the scenes that you can’t see yet.
We actually have a great resource on this called Waiting with Purpose. It’s designed to help you navigate those middle moments where the answer hasn't arrived yet.

The Holy Spirit: Your Prayer Partner
For those who wonder if they are "praying right," there is incredible news. As a Pentecostal-leaning ministry, we place a high value on the work of the Holy Spirit. If you’ve ever wondered what does Pentecostal mean, a big part of it is the belief that the Holy Spirit is active in our daily lives: especially in prayer.
Romans 8:26 tells us that the Spirit helps us in our weakness. When you are too exhausted to even speak, the Holy Spirit takes those "wordless groans" and translates them before the throne of God. You are never praying alone. The Spirit of God is interceding with you and for you. This ensures that even when your words are messy, your message is perfectly understood.
Practical Steps for the Silent Moments
If you are feeling unheard today, here are a few simple ways to reconnect:
Be Honest: You don’t have to hide your frustration from God. Tell Him you feel like He’s silent. David did this all the time in the Psalms.
Stay Persistent: Remember the parable of the persistent widow. God isn't annoyed by your constant asking; He’s moved by your faith. Keep knocking.
Listen Back: Sometimes we spend so much time talking that we forget to listen. Spend five minutes in total silence after you pray.
Lean on Community: You weren't meant to carry the weight of the world alone. Sometimes, we need others to pray with us to help bolster our faith.

Your Prayers Matter
Whether you are a shift worker praying in the middle of the night, a caregiver feeling isolated, or someone in a part of the world where you have to keep your faith a secret, know this: Your voice is heard.
God is not distant. He is not distracted. He is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. If you are that "one" today, know that your whispers are reaching the ears of the King of Kings.

A Prayer for Clarity and Peace
Heavenly Father, I thank You that You never sleep and You never miss a single word I speak. Lord, for the person reading this who feels like their prayers are unheard, I ask for a tangible sense of Your presence right now. Comfort their heart. Give them the strength to keep seeking You, even in the silence. Remind them that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory. We trust in Your timing and Your perfect will. Amen.
