When we think about worship, our minds often go straight to a stage with lights, a full band, and a room full of people lifting their hands. There is something undeniably powerful about corporate worship, and we love gathering together for our https://www.boundlessonlinechurch.org/sunday-live-worship to experience that collective presence of God. But for a parent, the most impactful worship leader your child will ever follow isn't the person on the screen or the stage. It is you.
Modeling a life of worship at home is about showing our children that God isn’t someone we only visit on a schedule. He is someone we live with every hour of the day. In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. This means that if we want our children to have a vibrant, Spirit-led faith, we have to live out that faith in the hallways, the kitchen, and the car.
Worship is essentially our response to who God is and what He has done. When we model this at home, we are teaching our children how to respond to the Creator in the middle of their ordinary lives. It isn't about being perfect; it’s about being present and pointing to the One who is perfect. It is about moving worship from a Sunday event to a daily environment.

One of the most foundational passages for parents is Deuteronomy 6:5-7. It tells us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength, and then it gives us the "how-to" for passing that on. It says to talk about His commandments when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Notice that it doesn't say "only when you are in a sanctuary." It focuses on the natural rhythms of life.
For many of us, the "road" might be the school drop-off line or the commute to work. "Sitting at home" might be a quick dinner between extracurricular activities. Modeling worship means bringing God into those moments. It might be as simple as saying, "I am so thankful for the way the sun looks this morning; God is such a creative artist," or "I'm feeling a bit stressed about this meeting, let's pray for a second before I drop you off."
These small, unforced mentions of God’s goodness and our need for Him show our children that God is real and relevant. We are showing them that worship isn't a performance we put on; it is a relationship we prioritize. When they see us leaning on God in the small things, they learn they can do the same.
Modeling worship also involves how we handle the "messy middle" of life. Our kids are watching us when the car breaks down, when the dinner burns, or when we get a piece of bad news. If we only worship when things are going well, we accidentally teach them that God is only good when our circumstances are good. But when we choose to trust God even when we are frustrated or tired, we are modeling a deeper, more resilient form of worship.
This doesn't mean we hide our emotions or pretend everything is fine. In fact, being humble and honest is a key part of modeling a life of faith. If you lose your temper, model worship by seeking forgiveness. Show them what it looks like to repent and ask the Holy Spirit to help you grow. Letting your kids see you ask God for patience or peace is one of the most powerful "sermons" you will ever give.
We believe in the power and the fruit of the Holy Spirit. As parents, we cannot model a life of worship in our own strength. We need the Spirit to produce love, joy, and peace in us so that our homes reflect the atmosphere of heaven. When we are exhausted from shift work or caregiving, we can ask the Holy Spirit to refuel us so that our attitudes remain a form of worship.

Another practical way to model worship is through the visible habit of engaging with Scripture. Do your children see you reading your Bible? It’s easy to do our devotions on our phones while the kids think we are just scrolling social media. While digital tools are incredible: and we use them every day to reach people at https://www.boundlessonlinechurch.org: there is something powerful about your children seeing you physically engaged with the Word.
If you use an app, tell them what you are doing. Say, "I'm just taking ten minutes to read what God has to say to me today." Invite them into the process. Share a verse that encouraged you. When they see that the Bible is your go-to source for wisdom and comfort, they will naturally begin to view it as their source too. You are setting a template for their own future walk with Christ.
Prayer is another vital component of a worship-filled home. Many parents feel they need to pray eloquent, long prayers to be "spiritual." But the most effective prayers for a child to hear are the ones that are simple, sincere, and frequent. Praying over a scraped knee, praying for a friend who is sick, or even praying for "green lights" when you're running late teaches children that God is listening and cares about the details.
We are a digital church serving those who cannot attend in person, and we know that many of our families are juggling unique challenges. Some of you are single parents, some are working night shifts, and some are dealing with chronic illness. Your "home" might feel chaotic or quiet, but God is present there. Your worship in the middle of a difficult season is incredibly precious to Him, and it is a powerful testimony to your children.

If you feel like you haven't been doing a great job of modeling worship, don't let guilt stop you. Today is a new day. God’s mercies are new every morning. Start small. Maybe it’s playing worship music in the background while you do chores, or maybe it’s starting a tradition of sharing one thing you are grateful for before bed. Worship is a journey, not a destination.
As a community, we want to support you in this. Our https://www.boundlessonlinechurch.org/prayer-wall is always open if you need us to stand with you in prayer for your family. We are here to help you navigate the complexities of raising kids in a digital age while keeping their hearts anchored in the truth of Jesus. We truly believe that as you model worship at home, you are planting seeds that will grow for generations to come.
We invite you to think about one way you can make God more "visible" in your home today. Is there a story of God’s faithfulness you can share? Is there a moment you can stop and pray with your child? Remember, you aren't just raising children; you are raising future worshippers.
