A Message from FA Memphis
In Assemblies of God (AG) theology, Truth #11 emphasizes that the ministry is a divine calling. It serves a fourfold purpose: evangelizing the world, leading worship, edifying the church, and meeting human needs with compassion. This scriptural mandate ensures the Body of Christ remains healthy, focused, and growing, reflecting Jesus’ heart to a global audience through both leadership and service.
Bible Verses to Carry With You
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV) "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
Mark 16:15 (NIV) "He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.'"
John 4:23 (NIV) "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks."
James 1:27 (NIV) "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
Understanding the Calling
When we talk about "The Ministry" in the context of our faith, it’s easy to picture someone standing behind a pulpit or wearing a specific collar. While those roles are vital, AG Truth #11 reminds us that the ministry is a divinely called and scripturally ordained provision from our Lord.
It isn't just a job or a career path. It is a commitment to a fourfold purpose that keeps the Church alive, healthy, and moving forward.
At Boundless Online Church, we believe this calling extends to the digital space, reaching people who might never step foot in a physical building, like shift workers, those in remote areas, or anyone seeking God from the comfort of their home.

1. Evangelizing the World
The first purpose of the ministry is simple but massive: reaching the lost.
Jesus was very clear about the mission. We are called to go into all the world. In the 21st century, "the world" includes the digital landscape. Every time we share a message, host an online Bible study, or connect with someone in a comments section, we are participating in the ministry of evangelism.
The ministry is set apart to ensure that the message of Jesus doesn't stay within the four walls of a church. It’s meant to be shared, broadcast, and lived out so that everyone, everywhere, has the chance to meet Jesus.
2. A Call to Worship
The second purpose is the worship of God.
Ministry leaders are called to lead the community in recognizing who God is and what He has done. Worship isn't just about music; it’s a lifestyle and a focus. The ministry helps keep the focus of the Church on the Father, ensuring that we are "true worshipers" who seek Him in Spirit and in truth.
Whether you are joining us for a livestream or reading a blog post during a quiet moment at work, the goal of the ministry is to point your heart back to the Creator.

3. Building Up the Body
The third purpose is the edification, or building up, of the believers.
We weren't meant to do life alone. The ministry is provided to equip you. Ephesians 4 tells us that leaders are given to the Church to help the "saints" (that’s you!) do the work of service.
The goal is maturity. We want to grow in our knowledge of Jesus until we are steady, strong, and reflecting His character in everything we do. This is why we place such a high value on our Bible Study Club and specialized groups like our Bible Study for Men.
When the ministry functions correctly, the body of Christ becomes a support system where everyone is growing together.
4. Meeting Human Needs
Finally, the ministry is called to show compassion.
Jesus spent His time healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and sitting with the outcast. A ministry that doesn't care for people isn't reflecting the heart of Christ. AG Truth #11 specifically highlights meeting human needs with ministries of love and compassion.
This means looking out for the widow, the orphan, and the person going through a crisis. It means being there for the family caregiver who is exhausted or the late-shift worker who feels isolated. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a very practical way.

A Ministry for Everyone
You might be wondering, "Does this apply to me if I’m not a pastor?"
While AG Truth #11 focuses on the scripturally ordained ministry, the purpose of that ministry is to equip every believer. You have a part to play. You are part of the body that is being built up. You are a worshiper. You are a witness.
The ministry exists to help you find your place in God's story. If you feel a tug on your heart to serve or lead, we invite you to check out our Volunteers and Leaders area to see how you can get involved.
We are all in this together, growing in an "evergreen" faith that doesn't wither, regardless of the season we are in.

A Prayer for the Called
Lord, thank You for providing leaders and a structure for Your Church. We thank You for the gift of the ministry. I pray for those You have called and set apart, that You would give them wisdom, strength, and a heart of pure compassion. Help us all to be a people who evangelize the world, worship You in truth, build each other up, and meet the needs of those around us. Let our lives reflect Your love today. Amen.
