You can be saved and start a new life by putting your trust in Jesus Christ, repenting of your sins, and accepting God’s gift of grace through faith. Salvation is a spiritual transformation where you are restored to a relationship with God, freed from the power of sin, and given a fresh start through the work of the Holy Spirit.
To be saved and start a new life, you need to believe in Jesus Christ, repent of sin, and receive God’s grace by faith.
Salvation is not something you earn. It is God’s gift that restores your relationship with Him, gives you a new beginning, and starts a real journey of spiritual growth through the Holy Spirit.
Bible Verses to Study
Romans 10:9-10: "If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Ephesians 2:8-9: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."
Titus 3:5: "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit."
2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
Understanding Salvation and the New Life
When we talk about salvation, we aren't just talking about a religious ritual or a membership card. We are talking about a fundamental shift in who you are and how you relate to the Creator of the universe.
In the Assemblies of God tradition, specifically AG Truth #5, we believe that the salvation of man is found in the person of Jesus Christ. It is God’s answer to the brokenness we all feel inside. We’ve all made mistakes, and we’ve all felt that distance between ourselves and God. Salvation is the bridge that closes that gap.
The Gift You Can’t Earn
One of the most beautiful things about starting a new life with God is that you don’t have to work your way into His good graces. Many people spend their whole lives trying to be "good enough," hoping that their good deeds will eventually outweigh their bad ones.
But the Gospel, the "Good News", is different. It tells us that salvation is a gift. You don’t earn a gift; you simply receive it. Grace means that God gives us what we don’t deserve (forgiveness and life) because Jesus took what He didn’t deserve (our punishment on the cross).

The Two "Must-Haves": Repentance and Faith
So, how do you actually receive this gift? It comes down to two things that happen in the heart: repentance and faith.
**Repentance** is a word that sometimes sounds scary, but it actually just means "to change your mind." It’s like realization hitting you that the direction you’re walking in isn’t working. You decide to turn around and walk toward God instead. It’s an honest admission that we’ve been trying to run our own lives, and we’re ready to let God take the lead.
**Faith** is the second part. It’s more than just knowing facts about Jesus. It’s putting your weight on Him. It’s trusting that when He died on the cross and rose again, He did it for *you*. When you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, something supernatural happens.
The Experience of New Birth
Jesus called this being "born again." It’s not a physical birth, but a spiritual one. The Holy Spirit comes to live within you, giving you a new nature.
Before salvation, we are often driven by our own desires, fears, and the heavy baggage of our past. After salvation, we are "justified", which is a fancy way of saying God looks at us as if we had never sinned. We are also "regenerated," which means our spirits are made alive. This is where the "new life" really begins. You might notice that your desires start to change. Things that used to satisfy you don’t seem as important anymore, and you find a new hunger for things that are good, true, and peaceful.

How Do You Know It’s Real?
People often ask, "How do I know I’m actually saved?"
There are two types of evidence: internal and external.
1. **Internal Evidence:** This is the "witness of the Spirit." It’s a quiet, deep-seated confidence that you belong to God. It’s a sense of peace that doesn’t always make sense given your circumstances.
2. **External Evidence:** This is the change people see in you. It’s a life lived in "righteousness and true holiness." It doesn’t mean you become perfect overnight, but it does mean you are growing. You start to love people more, you find it easier to forgive, and you have a new sense of purpose.

Taking the First Step
If you’re reading this and you feel a tug on your heart, that’s God inviting you into this new life. You don’t need to wait until you have everything figured out. You don’t need to "clean yourself up" first. You come as you are, and He does the work of changing you from the inside out.
Salvation is the start of a relationship, not the end of a transaction. Just like any relationship, it grows over time through conversation (prayer), listening (reading the Bible), and spending time with others who are on the same path.

Why This Matters for You Today
Life can be heavy. We carry the weight of expectations, the pain of broken relationships, and the uncertainty of the future. Salvation offers a place to set that weight down. It gives you an identity that isn't based on what you do, but on whose you are.
When you start a new life in Christ, you aren't just changing your Sunday morning routine. You are changing your eternal destination and your daily reality. You are becoming part of a global family of believers who are all learning to walk in this same grace.

A Prayer for a New Beginning
"Lord Jesus, I come to You today just as I am. I admit that I’ve tried to live life my own way and I’ve fallen short. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again to give me life. I turn away from my old life and I turn toward You. Please forgive me, wash me clean, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for the gift of salvation and for the new life You are beginning in me today. Help me to grow in faith and to follow You every day. Amen."
