Evergreen Faith : Is God Real? Evidence for the Faith

A Message from FA Memphis
The question of God’s existence is the most significant inquiry a human can make. Evidence for the faith is found in the universe's origin (Cosmological Argument), the intricate design of life (Fine-Tuning), the historical reliability of fulfilled biblical prophecy, and the life of Jesus Christ. While faith is required, it is a reasonable faith supported by logic, science, and historical documentation that points to an intelligent, powerful Creator.
What the Bible Says
Before we dive into the logic and history, let’s look at what Scripture tells us about God’s "fingerprints" on our world.
Romans 1:20 (NIV): "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities: his eternal power and divine nature: have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse."
Psalm 19:1 (NIV): "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."
Hebrews 11:3 (NIV): "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."
The Search for Truth
Have you ever looked up at a star-filled sky and felt a sudden sense of awe? Or perhaps you’ve looked at the complexity of a human thumb or the way a seasons change and wondered, "Is this all just a cosmic accident?"
At Boundless Online Church, we believe that asking "Is God real?" isn't a sign of weak faith. It’s the beginning of a deeper one. God isn't afraid of our questions. In fact, He has provided plenty of evidence to help us find our way to Him. We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online by looking at both the heart and the head.
Let's walk through four major lines of evidence that suggest God is not only real but is actively reaching out to you today.

1. The Argument from Beginnings (The Cosmological Argument)
Logic tells us that anything that begins to exist must have a cause. Nothing comes from nothing. If you find a watch in the woods, you don't assume it appeared there by magic; you know there was a watchmaker.
Scientists generally agree that the universe had a beginning: often referred to as the Big Bang. At that moment, all space, matter, and time came into existence. Logic dictates that the cause of the universe must be something outside of space, matter, and time. It must be spaceless, timeless, and immaterial.
This "First Cause" aligns perfectly with the description of God found in the Bible. He is the eternal, uncaused Cause. When we look at the sheer scale of the universe, we see a Creator of "unbelievably powerful" proportions. It takes a lot of faith to believe that everything came from nothing, by nothing, and for nothing. It is far more reasonable to believe that an intelligent Being set the gears in motion.
2. The Argument from Design (The Fine-Tuning of the Universe)
The more we learn about physics and biology, the more the universe looks like a "set-up." Scientists have identified numerous "constants": mathematical values for gravity, electromagnetism, and the expansion rate of the universe: that are so precisely calibrated that if they were off by a fraction of a hair’s width, life would be impossible.
Imagine a control room with 50 different dials. Each dial must be set to a specific, exact number for the machine to work. If you walked into that room, would you think the dials just fell into place? Or would you assume an engineer set them?
This "fine-tuning" suggests intentionality. From the complex coding found in our DNA to the perfect distance of the Earth from the Sun, creation speaks of a Designer. We aren't here by a lucky roll of the cosmic dice. We are here by design. 3. The Evidence of Fulfilled Prophecy
The Bible is unique among religious texts because it makes specific, testable predictions about the future that actually came true. This isn't just about general "good things will happen" statements, but historical, documented events.
For example, the prophet Daniel predicted the rise and fall of four major world empires: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome: centuries before they occurred. Furthermore, there are over 100 specific prophecies in the Old Testament concerning the Messiah: where He would be born, how He would live, and the exact manner of His death.
Jesus fulfilled every single one of them. The statistical probability of one person fulfilling even eight of these prophecies by chance is astronomical. It’s like covering the entire state of Texas in silver dollars, two feet deep, marking one, and asking a blindfolded person to pick it up on the first try. The fact that these prophecies were fulfilled points to a God who stands outside of time and knows the end from the beginning.
4. The Evidence of the Resurrected Jesus
Ultimately, the strongest evidence for God is found in the person of Jesus Christ. He didn't just claim to be a good teacher; He claimed to be God in the flesh. To back up that claim, He did something no one else has ever done: He rose from the dead.
The historical evidence for the resurrection is surprisingly strong. We have the empty tomb, the eyewitness accounts of over 500 people, and the radical transformation of the disciples. These men went from hiding in fear to boldly proclaiming the Gospel, even to the point of death. People might die for a lie they believe is true, but they don't die for a lie they know is a fabrication.
If Jesus is who He says He is, then God is real, and He loves you. Jesus is the bridge between our questions and God’s presence. If you're curious about how this ancient faith applies to our modern world, check out our article on what it means to be Pentecostal today.

The Evidence of a Changed Life
Beyond the logic and the history, there is the evidence of the heart. Millions of people throughout history, and many in our own online community, have experienced the reality of God through a personal relationship with Him.
When someone who was broken finds healing, or someone lost in addiction finds freedom, that is evidence. We see it every day in the real stories of life change shared by our members. This isn't just "wishful thinking"; it’s the tangible work of the Holy Spirit. As we believe in the Assemblies of God, the Spirit empowers us to live holy lives and witness to the world.
You may still have questions, and that's okay. Faith isn't the absence of questions; it’s choosing to trust the character of the One who has already given us so much evidence. God is real, He is here, and He is waiting for you to take that first step toward Him.
A Prayer for Seekers
Lord, thank You that You haven't left us in the dark. Thank You for the evidence of Your power in the stars, Your wisdom in our DNA, and Your love in the life of Jesus. For anyone reading this who is searching for truth, I pray You would make Your presence known to them today. Quiet their heart and open their eyes to see Your hand at work in their life. Draw them close and give them the peace that comes from knowing You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
