A Message from FA Memphis
What is the Church? According to Assemblies of God Fundamental Truth #6, the Church is the living Body of Christ: a community of believers, not a physical address. Its mission is to worship God, evangelize the world, and build up believers. Whether meeting in a cathedral or a digital space like Boundless Online Church, the "ecclesia" is defined by its people and their Spirit-empowered mission to share Jesus everywhere.
Bible Verses
Ephesians 1:22-23 (NIV): "And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way."
Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV): "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Acts 1:8 (NIV): "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV): "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another: and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
The Church is a People, Not a Place
When you hear the word "church," what’s the first thing that pops into your head? For many, it’s a steeple, stained glass, or maybe a row of wooden pews. But if the last few years have taught us anything, it’s that the "church" doesn't stop working just because the doors to a building are locked.
In the Assemblies of God, our 6th Fundamental Truth reminds us that the Church is actually a living, breathing organism. It is the "Body of Christ." Think about that for a second. Jesus isn't walking the earth in a physical, human body anymore, but He is present through us. We are His hands, His feet, and His voice.
This isn't just nice poetry; it's a functional reality. Whether you are logging in from a night shift, joining us from a hospital room, or participating from a country where meeting in person isn't safe, you are the Church. The building is just a tool. The people are the prize.

The Fourfold Mission of the Church
According to AG Truth #6, the Church has a very specific "job description." It’s not just about showing up on Sundays for a good song and a pep talk. There are four primary reasons the Church exists, and they apply just as much to our digital community as they do to any local congregation.
1. To Evangelize the World
The Church is God’s chosen agency for reaching the lost. We aren't a social club for the "already saved." We are a rescue mission. At Boundless Online Church, we take this seriously through The Digital Great Commission. We believe that the ends of the earth are now accessible through the phone in your pocket. Our mission is to meet people where they are: online: and introduce them to the hope of Jesus.
2. To Worship God
We were created to give glory to our Creator. When we gather: even across time zones and through screens: to lift up the name of Jesus, we are fulfilling our purpose. Worship isn't about the acoustics of a room; it’s about the posture of the heart. You can worship at 3:00 AM just as effectively as you can at 11:00 AM. In fact, we’ve found that Faith at 3 AM is sometimes the most raw and honest worship there is.
3. To Build Up Believers
The Church is meant to be a "school of discipleship." We are here to help each other grow, learn the Word, and become more like Jesus. This is why we focus so much on resources like our Online Programs. We want to move beyond "entry-level" faith and help you dive deep into the scriptures.
4. To Show Compassion
Finally, the Church exists to demonstrate God’s love in practical ways. This means being a community that cares for the hurting, the lonely, and the marginalized. It’s about more than just saying "I'll pray for you"; it’s about creating a safe space where people can find real support.

Why an Online Church is "Real" Church
Sometimes people ask, "Can an online community really be a church?"
If we look back at the New Testament, the early believers met in homes, in marketplaces, and along riverbanks. They didn't have dedicated "church buildings" for centuries. What they had was a shared faith and a shared mission.
At Boundless Online Church, we see technology as a bridge, not a barrier. For the stay-at-home parent, the traveler, or the person who feels anxious walking into a physical building, the digital space is a lifeline. It allows for the "meeting together" that Hebrews 10 talks about, even when physical proximity isn't possible.
We see this in action through our various groups. Whether it's the Bible Study for Men or our general Bible Study Club, people are building real relationships, sharing their burdens, and growing in their walk with Christ. That is the definition of the Church.

Living Out the Mission Every Day
Being "the Church" isn't a one-hour-a-week commitment. It’s a 24/7 identity. Because you are the Body of Christ, you carry the presence of God into your workplace, your home, and your social media feeds.
We want to help you navigate that world with wisdom. We’ve written about how families can use Safe Tech for the Gospel to make sure their digital footprint is reflecting their faith. Every interaction you have is an opportunity to fulfill the mission of the Church.
If you’ve ever felt like you didn't "fit" in a traditional church setting, or if your schedule makes it impossible to attend a standard service, know this: you aren't a "second-class" Christian. You are a vital part of the global Body of Christ.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling us to be Your Body. Thank You that the Church is not limited by walls, steeples, or physical locations. We ask that You would empower us by Your Holy Spirit to fulfill our mission. Help us to worship You with all our hearts, to share Your love with those who don't know You, to encourage our brothers and sisters, and to show Your compassion to a hurting world. Whether we are meeting in person or online, let us be unified in Your name. Amen.
