How Can I Help Reach the Unreached From Memphis?

How to Be a Sender in Memphis: 1. Pray for Unreached Groups, 2. Support Missionary Deployment, 3. Engage with AGWM Vision, 4. Local Reach, Global Impact

You can help reach unreached people groups from Memphis by becoming a strategic "Sender." This involves committing to daily prayer for specific unengaged groups, financially supporting missionary deployment through AG World Missions (AGWM), and leveraging digital tools like Boundless Online Church to bridge the gap between our city and the nations.

The Mission from the 901: Local Heart, Global Reach

Memphis is a city known for its soul, its grit, and its deep sense of community. But for those of us at First Assembly Memphis, our calling doesn't stop at the city limits. We are part of a global movement dedicated to ensuring that every person on earth, regardless of where they live or what language they speak, has access to the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

The task is significant. Currently, nearly 42% of the world's population remains unreached. These are people who have no local church, no Bible in their language, and no one in their immediate circle to tell them about the hope of the Gospel. From the 901, we are uniquely positioned to change that reality.

Understanding the Gospel Access Summit

The Gospel Access Summit, recently highlighted by AG World Missions (AGWM), is a strategic gathering focused on one primary goal: eliminating "Gospel poverty." This initiative is the largest missions focus in over seven decades, aiming to increase the missionary force to 4,000 by the year 2033.

The summit emphasizes that reaching the unreached is not just the job of the missionary on the field; it is the collective responsibility of the local church. By aligning with this vision, First Assembly Memphis joins a global network of believers dedicated to opening doors in places where the Gospel has never been heard.

Unity in Missions

Definition: Unreached People Groups (UPGs)

Unreached People Groups (UPGs): An ethnic group or people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize their own people group without outside assistance.

Unengaged Unreached People Groups (UUPGs): These are UPGs that have no known active church planting or missionary presence currently working among them.

What Does it Mean to Be a 'Sender'?

Not everyone is called to move across the ocean, but everyone is called to be involved in the Great Commission. In the Assemblies of God tradition, we recognize the vital role of the "Sender." A sender is someone who stays "at the ropes," providing the spiritual, emotional, and financial support necessary for missionaries to descend into the most difficult-to-reach places.

Being a sender in Memphis means looking beyond our own neighborhoods and realizing that our resources, our prayers, our finances, and our influence, can have eternal consequences on the other side of the globe.

Connecting from Memphis

1. Pray for Unreached Groups

Prayer is the primary work of missions. When we pray for unreached groups, we are asking the Holy Spirit to go before the missionaries, to soften hearts, and to prepare the way for the Gospel. At First Assembly Memphis, we believe in the power of the Spirit to break through cultural and spiritual barriers that seem impossible to us.

2. Support Missionary Deployment

Financial support is the fuel that keeps the missions machine moving. AGWM is working toward a "2033 Vision" to see thousands of new missionaries deployed. Your faithfulness in giving to missions at FA Memphis directly impacts these efforts, ensuring that those called to go have the resources they need to stay on the field and plant healthy, Spirit-filled churches.

3. Engage with the AGWM Vision

Stay informed about what God is doing globally. By following the updates from the Gospel Access Summit and participating in missions-focused events at First Assembly, you become a more effective advocate for the unreached. This knowledge allows you to share the "why" of missions with your family, friends, and coworkers.

4. Local Reach, Global Impact

The beauty of modern ministry is that the "ends of the earth" are often as close as our smartphones. The Pastor for Boundless Online outreach emphasizes that digital discipleship is a bridge. Through www.boundlessonlinechurch.org, we can provide community and care to those in isolated or unreached areas who are seeking truth online.

Why This Matters to Memphis

Our mission at First Assembly Memphis is to strengthen families and serve our city, but we do so with a global heartbeat. When we prioritize the unreached, we align ourselves with the heart of God. This outward focus prevents spiritual stagnation and reminds us that the Gospel we enjoy in the 901 is meant for everyone, everywhere.

By becoming a sender, you are taking a tangible step toward fulfilling the Great Commission. Whether it’s through a Life Group discussion, a missions pledge, or a dedicated prayer time, your involvement from Memphis is changing the eternal landscape of the world.
