Yes, we believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It is more than just a historical record or a collection of moral fables; it is God’s direct revelation to humanity. Through its pages, God speaks to our hearts, provides a blueprint for living, and reveals His plan for salvation through Jesus Christ. We trust it because it is consistent, historically accurate, and supernaturally preserved.
What the Bible Says About Itself
To understand why we trust the Bible, we first look at what the text claims about its own origin. The writers of the Bible didn't claim to be sharing their own opinions. Instead, they frequently noted that they were delivering messages directly from God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Peter 1:20-21
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

Why We Can Trust the Bible
For many seekers and even long-time believers, the question "Is the Bible really the Word of God?" is a vital starting point for faith. In the Evergreen Faith Library, we explore these foundations because a firm foundation leads to a resilient life.
1. Divine Inspiration (The "God-Breathed" Factor)
The Greek word used in 2 Timothy is theopneustos, which literally translates to "God-breathed." This means that while human authors used their own styles, languages, and personalities to write the books of the Bible, the Holy Spirit guided them so perfectly that the final result was exactly what God intended.
This is the first of the 16 Fundamental Truths that we hold dear. We believe the Scriptures are the infallible rule of faith and conduct.
2. Amazing Unity
Think about this: The Bible was written over a span of 1,500 years by more than 40 different authors. These authors came from all walks of life: kings, fishermen, tax collectors, doctors, and shepherds. They wrote in three different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) on three different continents.
Yet, despite this diversity, the Bible tells one cohesive story. From Genesis to Revelation, the theme remains the same: God’s creation, man’s fall into sin, and God’s beautiful plan to redeem humanity through Jesus Christ. This level of consistency is nearly impossible for human beings to achieve on their own; it points to a single "Divine Editor" overseeing the entire project.
3. Fulfilled Prophecies
One of the most compelling reasons to trust the Bible is its track record with prophecy. The Old Testament contains over 300 specific prophecies regarding the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These were written hundreds of years before He was born.
For example, the prophet Micah predicted Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. Isaiah predicted He would be born of a virgin and would suffer for our sins. These aren't vague "fortune cookie" predictions; they are specific historical markers that were fulfilled with 100% accuracy.

4. Historical and Scientific Accuracy
While the Bible is not a science textbook, whenever it touches on scientific or historical matters, it stands up to scrutiny. Archeologists have used the Bible for decades as a map to find ancient cities and civilizations that skeptics once claimed never existed (like the Hittites).
In terms of science, the Bible mentions the "paths of the seas" (ocean currents) and the fact that the earth "hangs on nothing" long before modern science confirmed these realities.
5. Changed Lives
The greatest evidence for many of us is the practical impact of the Word. We see people who were lost, broken, and struggling find hope and transformation through reading the Bible. It isn't just a book of information; it’s a book of transformation.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the Word of God is "alive and active." It reaches into our deepest thoughts and helps us navigate the complexities of modern life, whether we are working a late shift, managing a disability, or seeking peace in a chaotic world.

How the Bible Guides Us Today
Knowing that the Bible is the Word of God changes how we interact with it. It isn't just a "good book" on a shelf; it is a direct line of communication from our Creator.
If you are a shift worker feeling isolated, or someone in a part of the world where you can't openly attend a physical church, the Bible is your constant companion. It provides:
Comfort in Trial: Reminding us that God never leaves us.
Guidance in Decision Making: Offering wisdom that transcends cultural trends.
A Source of Truth: In an era of "fake news" and shifting moralities, the Bible remains an anchor.
At Boundless Online Church, we emphasize growing in faith online because we know that God’s Word isn't bound by geography. Whether you are at home, in a hospital, or on a break at work, you have access to the Truth.
Finding Your Way in the Word
If you’re new to the Bible, it can feel overwhelming. You don't have to understand everything at once. We recommend starting with the Gospel of John in the New Testament. It’s a beautiful account of Jesus’ life and His love for you.
We also invite you to join our Clarion Call Bible Study or jump into our Bible Study Club to discuss these truths with others. You don't have to walk this journey alone.
Encouragement for the Journey
The world will always have questions and doubts about the Bible. That’s okay. God isn't afraid of your questions. But as you read, ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. You will find that the Bible doesn't just tell you about God; it introduces you to Him.
We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. If you have been searching for something solid to stand on, you’ve found it in the Scriptures. Trust that the same God who inspired these words is the same God who is watching over your life today.

A Short Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving us Your Word. We thank You that we don't have to guess who You are or what You want for our lives. Open our hearts as we read the Bible. Give us wisdom and understanding. Let Your Truth be a light in our lives, guiding us through every dark moment and celebrating with us in every joy. Amen.
