The Boundless Daily: Day 3 : Jesus: Fully God, Fully Man

Welcome back to The Boundless Daily.

If you're joining us for the first time, you're right on time.

Today we're diving into one of the most essential truths of Christian faith: the deity of Jesus Christ.

Not as a theological puzzle.

But as the foundation of everything we believe about salvation, hope, and relationship with God.

The Mystery That Changes Everything

Here's the claim that Christianity makes:

Jesus is fully God and fully man : at the same time, in one person.

Not 50% God and 50% man.

Not God wearing a human costume.

Not a really good man who became divine.

100% God. 100% human. One person.

This isn't a riddle to solve.

It's the reality that makes redemption possible.

Why Both Natures Matter

You might be thinking: "Does this really matter? Can't I just follow Jesus' teachings?"

Here's why it matters more than anything:

If Jesus were only God and not truly human, he couldn't represent us.

He couldn't live a real human life under God's law.

He couldn't experience temptation.

He couldn't die a real human death.

If Jesus were only human, he could sympathize with us, but he couldn't save us.

His sacrifice would be limited.

His power would be finite.

His resurrection would be impossible.

But because Jesus is both fully God and fully man, he becomes the perfect bridge between heaven and earth.

The only one who can save.

Jesus: Fully God

When we say Jesus is fully God, we mean he possesses all the attributes of divinity.

He didn't stop being God when he became human.

He didn't lose any divine power or knowledge.

The Bible is clear:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

"The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." (Colossians 1:15)

Jesus demonstrated his deity through:

  • Miracles that displayed power over nature, sickness, and death

  • Forgiveness of sins : something only God can do

  • Authority over the Sabbath and the law

  • Acceptance of worship : which he would have rejected if he weren't God

He claimed equality with God repeatedly.

And his resurrection from the dead validated every claim he made.

Jesus: Fully Man

At the same time, Jesus took on complete human nature.

He was born of a virgin : conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary.

This wasn't a symbolic birth.

It was real.

He entered the world the same way every human does : as a helpless baby.

He lived a real human life:

He got tired. He felt hunger. He experienced thirst.

He felt joy, sorrow, and grief.

He was tempted in every way we are : yet without sin.

He died a real death.

The cross wasn't theater.

It was excruciating physical suffering and spiritual separation from the Father as he carried our sin.

And he rose again : not as a spirit, but in a glorified physical body.

When Thomas doubted, Jesus invited him: "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side." (John 20:27)

Real body. Real resurrection.

One Person, Two Natures

This is where it gets beautiful.

Jesus isn't two separate people sharing one body.

He's one person with two distinct yet inseparable natures : divine and human : perfectly united.

The early church wrestled with this mystery and articulated it clearly in the Chalcedon Definition (451 AD):

"The whole nature of deity and the whole nature of humanity are united in the one person of Christ."

Not confused.

Not divided.

Perfectly whole.

Why This Is Good News for You

Here's what Jesus' dual nature means for your life today:

Because Jesus is fully human, he understands you completely.

"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are: yet he did not sin." (Hebrews 4:15)

Your struggles aren't foreign to him.

Your temptations aren't beyond his understanding.

Your pain doesn't confuse him.

Because Jesus is fully God, he has the power to save you completely.

His sacrifice carries infinite worth.

His forgiveness is absolute.

His resurrection power is available to you.

"Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." (Hebrews 7:25)

Where Jesus Is Now

The story doesn't end at the empty tomb.

After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples for 40 days.

Then he ascended into heaven.

Right now, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God the Father.

He's not inactive.

He's interceding for you.

He's preparing a place for you.

He's coming back.

"Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:11)

Your Response Today

So what do you do with this truth?

First, believe it.

This isn't just good theology.

It's the foundation of salvation.

Jesus didn't come to be a moral teacher or a religious figure.

He came to be your Savior : the only bridge between you and God.

Second, receive it.

If you've never placed your faith in Jesus, today is your day.

You don't have to clean up your life first.

You don't have to understand everything.

You simply need to come to him.

"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)

Third, live it.

If you already know Jesus, let this truth shape how you live.

You're not just following good advice.

You're following the God-Man who conquered death and offers you eternal life.

Walk in that power today.

Tomorrow: The Fall of Humanity

We've looked at who God is and who Jesus is.

Tomorrow, we'll look at humanity's problem : and why we desperately need the Savior we've been talking about.

It's not a fun topic.

But it's essential to understanding the full story of redemption.

We'll see you then.
