The Boundless Daily: Day 3 : The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

Welcome to Day 3.

If you're reading this between shifts, in a quiet moment, or somewhere far from a traditional church building, you're exactly where you need to be.

Today we're looking at one of the most important truths in all of Scripture: Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man.

Not just a good teacher. Not just a prophet. Not just a moral example.

God Himself, in human flesh.

This changes everything.

Jesus Said He Was God

Jesus didn't leave room for confusion.

He made claims that would be absolutely crazy: unless they were true.

When religious leaders confronted Him, Jesus said, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30). They knew exactly what He meant. They picked up stones to kill Him for blasphemy because He was "making himself God" (John 10:33).

Another time, Jesus declared, "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58).

That phrase: "I am": was the sacred name of God. The name God gave Moses at the burning bush. By using it, Jesus was claiming to be the eternal God who has always existed.

After the resurrection, when Thomas saw Jesus alive, he fell at His feet and said, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28).

Jesus didn't correct him. He accepted worship that belongs only to God.

Jesus Showed Divine Power

Words are one thing. Actions back them up.

Jesus demonstrated power that only God possesses:

He healed the sick. Lepers were cleansed with a touch. Blind eyes were opened. The paralyzed walked.

He controlled nature. He spoke to a storm, and it obeyed Him (Mark 4:39). He walked on water. He multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed thousands.

He raised the dead. A widow's son. A twelve-year-old girl. His friend Lazarus: dead four days and already decomposing: walked out of the tomb at Jesus's command (John 11:43-44).

He forgave sins. Only God can forgive sins. Yet Jesus told a paralyzed man, "Your sins are forgiven" (Mark 2:5). The religious leaders were furious. But Jesus proved His authority by healing the man instantly.

These weren't magic tricks or illusions. They were signs pointing to who Jesus really was: God in the flesh, with all power and authority.

Jesus Is Fully God and Fully Man

Here's where it gets beautiful: and mysterious.

Jesus didn't stop being God when He became human. And He wasn't just pretending to be human.

The apostle Paul wrote that Jesus existed "in the form of God" but took on "the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:6-7).

Jesus got hungry. Tired. Thirsty. He wept at the death of a friend. He felt the sting of betrayal.

He was fully, completely human.

But at the same time, "in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily" (Colossians 2:9).

He was: and is: fully God.

Why does this matter?

Because only someone who is both God and man could bridge the gap between us and God. Only a sinless human could die for human sin. Only God could defeat death itself.

Jesus Died and Rose Again

The cross wasn't a tragic mistake. It was the plan.

Jesus, the eternal Son of God, chose to die in our place. He carried our sin, our guilt, our separation from God: and paid the price we could never pay.

Three days later, He walked out of the tomb.

The resurrection is the ultimate proof of Jesus's deity. Death couldn't hold Him. The grave couldn't keep Him.

Paul wrote, "He was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead" (Romans 1:4).

Over five hundred people saw Jesus alive after His crucifixion (1 Corinthians 15:6). They touched Him. Ate with Him. Watched Him ascend into heaven.

The disciples went from hiding in fear to boldly proclaiming Jesus: even when it cost them their lives. People don't die for what they know is a lie.

The resurrection happened. And it proves Jesus is exactly who He said He was.

Jesus Is Exalted as Lord

After His resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven and took His rightful place at the Father's right hand.

God the Father said of Him, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever" (Hebrews 1:8).

Jesus has been given "all authority in heaven and on earth" (Matthew 28:18).

Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).

He is not a distant deity. He is alive, ruling, interceding for us, and preparing a place for those who trust in Him (John 14:2-3).

One day, He will return.

And when He does, everyone will see what His followers have known all along: Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords.

What This Means for You

If Jesus is God, then He has the power to save you.

No sin is too big. No past too broken. No distance too far.

Because Jesus is God, He can forgive you completely. He can give you new life. He can walk with you through every hard thing you face.

Because Jesus became human, He understands what you're going through. Hebrews 4:15 says, "We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin."

He gets it. He's been there. And He's holding out His hand to you.

You don't have to clean yourself up first. You don't have to have all the answers. You don't have to be in a church building or know the right religious words.

You just have to come to Him.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

That's Jesus. God with us. Mighty to save.
