Day 5 // AG Fundamental Truth #5: The Salvation of Man
A 5-minute micro-study for people on the move
The Problem We All Face
Here's the truth nobody wants to talk about at 2 a.m. during a shift break or in the quiet moments when you're caring for someone you love:
We're all separated from God.
Not because we're terrible people. Not because we haven't tried hard enough.
But because sin creates a gap between us and a holy God. And no amount of good behavior, volunteering, or religious activity can bridge that gap on our own.
Romans 3:23 puts it plainly: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
All means all.
The factory worker pulling doubles. The nurse on night shift. The parent up at 3 a.m. with a sick kid. The person scrolling their phone right now, wondering if there's more to life than just surviving.
We've all missed the mark.

The Rescue Mission
But here's where the story gets good.
God didn't look at humanity's mess and walk away. He didn't throw up His hands and say, "You're on your own."
He launched a rescue mission.
The Assemblies of God's Fifth Fundamental Truth explains it this way: Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
Not through rules. Not through religion. Not through trying harder.
Through Jesus.
John 3:16 says it clearly: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
That word "whoever" is massive.
It includes you.
No matter what shift you're working. No matter what you're carrying right now. No matter what you've done or where you've been.
Whoever.
What Jesus Did
Let's break down the rescue:
Jesus took our place.
He lived the perfect life we couldn't live. Then He died the death we deserved. He took the punishment for our sin on Himself.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
That's substitution. That's rescue.
Jesus defeated death.
Three days later, He walked out of the grave. Death couldn't hold Him. And because He rose, we can too.
Romans 6:9 tells us: "We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him."
The rescue is complete. The way is open.

How We Receive It
Salvation isn't something we earn. It's something we receive.
Ephesians 2:8-9 makes this crystal clear: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast."
Grace means undeserved favor. You can't work for it. You can't buy it. You can't be good enough to deserve it.
You simply receive it.
Here's what that looks like practically:
1. Recognize your need.
Admit that you've sinned and that you can't save yourself. This isn't about beating yourself up. It's about being honest.
2. Believe in Jesus.
Trust that Jesus died for your sins and rose again. Believe that He's the only way to be reconciled with God.
Acts 16:31 says, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved."
3. Repent and receive.
Turn away from sin and turn toward Jesus. Ask Him to forgive you and come into your life.
Romans 10:9 promises: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
It's that simple. And that powerful.

What Changes
When you accept this rescue, something real happens.
You're not just trying to be better. You're made new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
You become part of God's family.
Your sins are forgiven, past, present, and future.
The Holy Spirit comes to live in you, giving you power to live differently.
You have eternal life. Not just someday in heaven, but starting right now.
This doesn't mean life becomes easy. You'll still face the same job, the same challenges, the same tough circumstances.
But you're not facing them alone anymore.
For the Person Reading This at 3 A.M.
Maybe you're on break during a long shift.
Maybe you're sitting in a hospital room while someone you love is sleeping.
Maybe you're scrolling because you can't sleep and you're wondering if God even sees you.
He does.
This rescue mission? It includes you.
Right where you are. Right now.
You don't have to clean up your life first. You don't have to have it all figured out. You don't have to wait for a better time.
Jesus is extending His hand to you today.
The question is: Will you take it?

Your Next Step
If you're ready to accept this rescue, you can pray something like this:
"Jesus, I recognize that I'm a sinner and I can't save myself. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I'm turning away from my old life and turning toward You. Please forgive me and come into my life. Make me new. I choose to follow You. Amen."
If you prayed that prayer: or if you're thinking about it and have questions: we'd love to hear from you.
You're not alone in this.
