The Map of Light: A Discipleship Pipeline Package (Truth #1)

What if discipleship could feel less like a lecture and more like an adventure?

That's the heart behind The Map of Light: the first package in our Discipleship Pipeline series. This isn't just another curriculum. It's a family experience built around Truth #1: The Scriptures Inspired, designed to help your children fall in love with God's Word as the living, breathing guide it truly is.

Each package includes a parent devotional, a standalone children's story, Scripture memory cards, a parent discussion guide, and a simple craft. Everything you need to make God's Word come alive in your home.

Let's start with the story.

Child and grandmother at forest edge in Christian discipleship story The Map of Light

The Map of Light: A Children's Story

For ages 3–12

Ellie stood at the edge of the Darkwood Forest, holding her grandmother's hand.

The trees were tall. Their branches tangled together like a knot. The path ahead disappeared into shadows.

"Are you sure we have to go through?" Ellie asked.

Grandmother smiled. "I'm sure. And I have something to help us."

She pulled an old leather book from her bag. Its cover was worn soft from years of being held. Gold letters shimmered on the front: Holy Bible.

"This," Grandmother said, "is the Map of Light."

Ellie tilted her head. "It doesn't look like a map."

"That's because it's better than a map," Grandmother said. "A map shows you where to go. This shows you how to walk."

She opened the book. The pages glowed softly, like candlelight.

Ellie gasped. "It's... glowing."

"God's Word is alive," Grandmother whispered. "It lights the path wherever we go."

They stepped into the forest together.

At first, the shadows felt heavy. Ellie couldn't see far ahead. But Grandmother opened the book and began to read:

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

As soon as she spoke, a soft glow spread out around them. The shadows pulled back. The path became clear.

Ellie blinked. "The words did that?"

"God's words always do that," Grandmother said. "When we read them, when we believe them, they light up the way."

They walked farther. The trees grew thicker. The air felt cold.

Ellie's heart beat faster. "I don't like it here."

Grandmother knelt beside her. "Neither do I. But look."

She turned the pages and read aloud:

"I am with you always."

The light grew brighter. Warmer. It wrapped around Ellie like a blanket.

"See?" Grandmother said. "God's Word isn't just information. It's His voice. And when He speaks, fear has to leave."

Ellie held Grandmother's hand tighter. Together, they kept walking.

Around a bend, the path split into three directions. Ellie stopped. "Which way?"

Grandmother smiled. She opened the book again.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

The glow grew strongest on the middle path.

"There," Grandmother said. "God's Word doesn't just light the way. It shows us which way to go."

Ellie took a breath. She trusted the glow. They walked the middle path.

Soon, the trees began to thin. Sunlight broke through the branches. Birds sang. Flowers dotted the ground. Ahead, the forest opened into a wide, golden meadow.

Ellie ran into the light, laughing.

Grandmother followed, holding the book close to her heart.

"We made it!" Ellie said.

"We did," Grandmother agreed. "Because we followed the Map of Light."

Ellie looked back at the dark forest. Then she looked at the glowing book. "Can I carry it now?"

Grandmother smiled wide. "Yes. Because one day, you'll walk through your own forests. And you'll need this light to guide you."

She placed the Bible in Ellie's hands.

It was heavier than Ellie expected. But also warmer. And brighter.

"Will it always glow?" Ellie asked.

"Always," Grandmother said. "As long as you open it. As long as you listen. God's Word never stops shining."

Ellie hugged the book close.

And the light kept glowing.

What's Included in the Package

This isn't just a story you read once and forget. It's a discipleship tool designed to grow with your family.

Daily Parent Devotional

Before you read the story to your kids, spend a few minutes in your own heart work. The parent devotional focuses on the Bible as the inspired Word of God: not just a book about God, but God's actual voice on the page. It's short, reflective, and prepares you to lead your family well.

Scripture Memory Cards

Each card is beautifully designed in watercolor and charcoal style. Side A features Psalm 119:105 in readable type. Side B includes the key truth: "God's Word lights our path": along with our signature.

Print them. Laminate them. Stick them on the fridge. Let your kids carry them in their pockets. Repetition builds faith.

Parent Discussion Guide

This one-page guide helps you go deeper without overwhelming anyone. It includes:

  • Heart of the Story: What's really happening beneath the surface?

  • Theological Roots: How does this story connect to Truth #1 (The Scriptures Inspired)?

  • Segmented Questions: Age-appropriate prompts for kids 3–6, 7–9, and 10–12.

  • Prayer Closer: A simple prayer to end your discussion with grace.

You don't need to be a Bible scholar. Just be present. Ask questions. Listen.

Simple Craft: Lantern of Light

Using a mason jar, tissue paper, and a battery-operated tea light, you'll create a glowing lantern with your kids. As you work, talk about how God's Word lights our way just like the lantern lights the room.

It's hands-on. It's meaningful. And it costs almost nothing.

How to Use This Package

Here's a rhythm that works for most families:

Day 1: Read the parent devotional. Pray over your week.

Day 2: Read The Map of Light aloud with your kids. Let them ask questions.

Day 3: Use the discussion guide. Choose age-appropriate questions. Let conversation happen naturally.

Day 4: Work on the craft together. Talk about light, truth, and God's nearness.

Day 5: Practice the memory verse. Make it fun. Use motions. Say it at breakfast, bedtime, or in the car.

You don't have to do it perfectly. You just have to start.

Why Truth #1 Matters

The Scriptures aren't just helpful. They're inspired. That means God breathed them into existence. They carry His authority, His voice, His heartbeat.

When your kids learn to see the Bible as the Map of Light: not just a rulebook or a history book: they'll turn to it naturally in hard moments. They'll open it when they're confused. They'll trust it when life feels dark.

And that's discipleship.

Not just knowledge transfer. Heart transformation.

A Story They'll Remember

Years from now, your child might not remember every lesson you taught. But they'll remember this: the night you read about Ellie and the glowing book. The lantern you made together. The verse you said in the car.

Stories stick. Truth paired with beauty becomes unforgettable.

That's what The Map of Light is designed to do. To plant seeds. To light paths. To build a foundation your children will stand on long after they've left your home.
