Unlimited Access: Homebound but Not Heartbroken

There is a common myth that says life happens "out there."

We’re told that to be productive, we have to be on the move. To be social, we have to be at the party. And to be spiritual, we have to be in a specific pew at 10:00 AM on a Sunday morning.

But what happens when your "out there" is limited to what you can see through your bedroom window?

Whether you are navigating the challenges of aging, managing a chronic illness, or living with a disability that keeps you homebound, it is easy to feel like the world, and even God, has moved on without you. It’s easy to feel like you’re sitting on the sidelines of the Great Commission.

I want to tell you something today: You aren't on the sidelines. In fact, you might be at the very front of the line.

At Boundless Online Church, we believe that your physical location never limits your spiritual vocation. You may be homebound, but you are definitely not heartbroken when you realize the "Unlimited Access" you have to the King of Kings.

The Church Has No Walls

One of the beautiful things about the gospel is that it doesn't require a commute.

In the Book of Acts, we see the early church meeting in homes, in secret, and even in prison cells. The presence of God was never tethered to a specific zip code or a grand cathedral.

As a ministry of FA Memphis, we see this every single day. We are a digital church serving those who cannot attend in person. We know that the Holy Spirit is just as active in a living room in a small town as He is in a stadium filled with thousands of people.

If you’re feeling isolated, remember that the Church isn't a building you go to; it’s a body you belong to. Even if your physical body feels like it's failing you or keeping you restricted, your spirit is free. You have a direct line to the Creator of the universe.

Your Room is a Powerhouse

If you find yourself spending most of your time in one room, it’s easy to feel like your "output" for God is zero. But let’s look at this through a different lens.

In our "Unlimited Access" series, we focus on the fact that God’s power isn't measured by our miles per hour. It’s measured by our surrender.

Think about the ministry of intercession. Some of the most powerful warriors in the Kingdom of God are people who can't leave their beds. Why? Because they have the gift of time and the focus that the busy world has lost.

When you pray from your room, you are engaging in spiritual warfare. You are standing in the gap for your grandchildren, your neighbors, and even for people on the other side of the world you’ve never met.

The Assemblies of God doctrine reminds us of the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which empowers us for witness. That witnessing doesn't always look like standing on a street corner. Sometimes, it looks like a phone call to a lonely friend or a text message of encouragement.

Serving God from Your Chair

You might be wondering, "How can I actually serve if I can’t get around?"

Service is simply love in action. Here are a few ways you can continue to serve the Lord and grow in faith right where you are:

1. The Ministry of the Phone

There is someone in your life who is desperate to hear a friendly voice. You have the "Unlimited Access" to reach out and speak life into them. A simple, "I was praying for you today," can change a person's entire week.

2. Digital Discipleship

We live in an incredible age. You can join a Boundless Group and participate in a Bible study via video or chat. You can share your wisdom and life experience with younger believers who are struggling. Your perspective as a seasoned saint is a treasure the younger generation needs.

3. The Prayer Wall

Our Prayer Wall is a place where people from all over the globe post their deepest needs. You can visit that wall every morning and cover those requests in prayer. That is high-level ministry.

Breaking the Spirit of Loneliness

Loneliness is a heavy weight, but it’s a weight Jesus wants to carry for you.

We believe in Divine Healing, as outlined in our 16 Fundamental Truths. While we always pray for physical healing, we also know that God provides emotional and spiritual healing. He is the "Friend who sticks closer than a brother."

When the silence in your home feels too loud, try turning on some worship music or a Sunday Live Worship replay. Fill your environment with the Word.

One of our favorite resources for this is The Boundless Daily. Taking just a few minutes each day to anchor your truth in the Bible can shift your entire atmosphere from one of "isolation" to one of "solitude with God."

You Are Not Forgotten

Dr. Layne McDonald often says that the heart of Boundless is to make sure no one is left behind.

If you’ve spent years serving in the church, teaching Sunday School, cooking for potlucks, or greeting at the door, and now you can’t do those things, you might feel like your value has dropped.

Let me be very clear: Your value is based on whose you are, not what you do.

God doesn't love you because you're "useful." He loves you because you are His child. He sees you when you’re struggling to get out of bed. He sees you when the pain is high and the company is low. He is right there in the room with you.

A New Perspective on "Homebound"

What if we stopped calling it "homebound" and started calling it "home-based ministry"?

Your home is your mission field. The nurses who visit you, the family members who check in, the delivery drivers, they are all people who can see the light of Christ in you. Your patience, your kindness, and your "heartbroken-free" attitude are powerful testimonies to the grace of God.

Even when things are hard, you can have a "Boundless" spirit.

We want to help you stay plugged in. Whether it’s through our Daily Parent Devotionals (which are great for grandparents too!) or just by reading our latest blog posts, we are here to walk this journey with you.

You Have a Place Here

If you are reading this and feeling the sting of being stuck at home, take a deep breath.

God is not finished with you. Your story isn't over. You have "Unlimited Access" to the throne of grace, and you have a community here at Boundless that values you.

We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. That mission includes you, especially you. You are a vital part of what God is doing in this digital age.

Don't let the four walls of your room define the size of your world. Let the Word of God define it instead. You are loved, you are seen, and you are serving a purpose that is eternal.
