Why Everyone Is Talking About the Holy Spirit (And You Should Too)

Christian Living: Why Everyone Is Talking About the Holy Spirit (And You Should Too)

Lately, if you walk into a coffee shop or sit down for a meal, you might overhear a conversation that has nothing to do with sports or the latest festival. There is a different kind of buzz in the air. People are talking about revival. They are talking about divine healing. Most importantly, they are talking about the Holy Spirit.

I’ve been watching this unfold with a heart full of gratitude. Whether it’s at a church gathering or a small group in a living room, there is a profound hunger for the presence of God that I haven't seen in a long time. People are tired of "religion as usual." They are looking for something real, something powerful, and something that actually changes their lives when they wake up on Monday morning.

If you’ve been feeling that same tug on your heart—that sense that there has to be more to your faith than just checking a box—I want you to know that you aren't alone. You are never forgotten, you are never alone, and you are deeply loved by God. He is moving in communities everywhere, and He is moving online through Boundless Online Church, because He wants to meet you exactly where you are.

The Hunger for Divine Healing

Why now? I believe it’s because people everywhere have walked through seasons of deep pain. We’ve seen struggle, and we’ve seen heartbreak. But where sin and suffering abound, grace abounds even more.

When we talk about divine healing, we aren't just talking about a physical miracle—though I believe God still heals today just as He did in the book of Acts. We are also talking about the healing of the soul, the mending of broken families, and the restoration of hope. In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers, while also recognizing God’s sovereignty and timing.

I’ve met so many people recently who have shared testimonies of God touching their lives. Some have found freedom from years of anxiety; others have seen physical ailments improve after being prayed for in the name of Jesus. This isn’t about a "magic show" or a specific personality on a stage. It’s about the person of the Holy Spirit moving among people who are simply desperate enough to ask.

Understanding Holy Spirit Baptism

One of the big topics coming up in these conversations is Holy Spirit Baptism. For some, that term might sound a little intimidating or even confusing. But I want to simplify it for you.

Think of it this way: Salvation is like getting into the car. You’ve accepted Jesus, your sins are forgiven, and you are on the road to heaven. But the Baptism in the Holy Spirit? That’s like putting the high-octane fuel in the tank. It is an empowerment for service and a deeper immersion into the life of God.

According to the Scriptures, this experience is distinct from and follows the experience of the new birth. It brings an endowment of power for life and service, and the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry. When the Holy Spirit falls, things change. Your prayer life takes on a new dimension. Your witness for Christ becomes bolder. You start to see the world through the eyes of Jesus.

If you’ve been feeling "stuck" in your Christian walk, perhaps it’s time to stop trying to do it all in your own strength. We weren't meant to live this life on our own willpower. We were meant to live it by the power of the Spirit.

Friday Families: Unplugging to Connect

Since today is Friday, I want to pivot for a moment to something practical for your home. We often miss the "still, small voice" of the Holy Spirit because our lives are too noisy. Our phones are buzzing, our screens are glowing, and our schedules are packed.

If you want to experience the move of God that everyone is talking about, sometimes you have to create a "landing strip" for the Spirit in your home. This weekend, I want to challenge you to a digital detox.

Here are a few low-cost ways to bond as a family and focus on the Lord:

Speaking of protection, in this digital age, we have to be proactive. I strongly encourage every family to look into Bark or Covenant Eyes for online safety and accountability. We want our homes to be sanctuaries where the Holy Spirit feels welcome, and that starts with what we allow through our internet routers.

How to Seek the Holy Spirit Right Now

You don't have to be at a massive conference or special event to experience the Holy Spirit. You can experience Him right where you are sitting. Here is how you can begin:

I want to encourage you to dive into the Scriptures. Don't just take my word for it. Look at the book of Acts. Look at the promises of Jesus. God is a restorer. He is a healer. And He is calling you into a deeper relationship than you ever thought possible.
