A Message from FA Memphis
The 16 Fundamental Truths are the bedrock of our faith, providing a clear, biblical roadmap for every believer. These truths are not just a list of rules; they are life-giving principles that help us understand God's character, our need for salvation through Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives.
Bible Verses:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." , 2 Timothy 3:16-17
"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures." , 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." , Acts 1:8
The Heart of the Truth
I am so glad you are here. Whether you are a lifelong follower of Jesus or just starting to explore what faith means, having a solid foundation is everything. In the Assemblies of God Memphis community and across our global Boundless family, we lean on these truths because they keep us focused on what truly matters. We often say that the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. These guardrails don’t limit us; they protect us and keep us moving in the right direction toward God’s best for our lives.
Today, we’re doing a deep dive into these 16 Fundamental Truths. Think of this as your 16 Fundamental Truths Bible Study. We want to look at how these ancient scriptural integrity points translate into modern living in Memphis and beyond. When the world feels chaotic, these truths offer a "welcome home" to your soul, reminding you that you are never forgotten, never alone, and deeply loved by God.
1. The Scriptures Inspired
Everything starts here. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It’s our manual for life. In a world of "fake news" and shifting opinions, the Bible stands as the ultimate source of truth. It is scientifically consistent and historically accurate, but more importantly, it is spiritually alive.
2. The One True God
God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM." We believe in the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It’s a beautiful mystery that shows God is both our Creator and our constant companion.
3. The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus isn't just a "good teacher." He is the Lord! He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died for our sins, was raised from the dead, and is now at the right hand of God. Our faith is built entirely on who He is.

4. The Fall of Man
We have to be honest: things aren't perfect because man willingly fell into sin. This is why we see suffering and pain in the world. Recognizing the "fall" isn't about shame; it’s about acknowledging our need for a Savior.
5. The Salvation of Man
This is the best news ever! Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift received through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus. There is no other way, and that’s why we celebrate His grace every single day.
6. The Ordinances of the Church
We practice Water Baptism by immersion (showing the world we are dead to sin and alive in Christ) and Holy Communion (remembering His suffering and death). These are powerful moments of connection with God and our church family.
7. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit
All believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect, the promise of the Father, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This was the normal experience of the early Christian church and it gives us the power to live and serve like Jesus.
8. The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. It’s a beautiful, personal sign of the Spirit's overflowing presence.
9. Sanctification
Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil and of dedication unto God. It’s a daily process of becoming more like Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions. It’s about progress, not perfection.
10. The Church and Its Mission
The Church is the Body of Christ. Our mission is to seek and save that which is lost, to worship God, to build a body of believers in the image of His Son, and to demonstrate His love and compassion to all the world.
11. The Ministry
God calls individuals to lead the church in evangelism, worship, and building up the believers. We are so blessed by the dedicated teams here at Boundless and FA Memphis who serve our community 24/7.

12. Divine Healing
Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers today. We serve a God who still heals hearts, minds, and bodies.
13. The Blessed Hope
The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the church. Jesus is coming back!
14. The Millennial Reign of Christ
The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand years. This brings the promise of peace to the nations.
15. The Final Judgment
There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. This reminds us of the eternal significance of our choices today.
16. The New Heavens and the New Earth
"We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness." This is our ultimate "welcome home", a place of no more tears, no more pain, and eternal fellowship with God.
