Boundless Daily: Day 29: The Call to Global Missions

Hey there, and welcome to Day 29 of our Boundless Daily journey.

If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve covered a lot of ground. We’ve talked about personal faith, our identity in Christ, and how to navigate the digital world as believers. But today, we’re zooming out. Way out.

Imagine sitting at a desk late at night. There’s a single, warm lamp glowing, casting shadows across a weathered globe. You give it a spin, and your finger lands on a spot thousands of miles away, a place where the name of Jesus might not have been whispered in decades.

That’s what today is about. We’re talking about the call to global missions.

Now, before you think, "I'm not a preacher" or "I don't have a passport," hang on a second. Missions isn't just for the person in the safari hat trekking through a jungle. In the world we live in today, missions is a heartbeat. It’s a mindset.

It’s the realization that the Gospel is too good to keep to ourselves.

The Heartbeat of the Father

Why do we care about global missions? It’s pretty simple: God cares about it.

From the very beginning, God’s plan wasn't just for one group of people or one small corner of the map. He told Abraham that through him, all the families of the earth would be blessed.

When Jesus gave what we call the Great Commission in Matthew 28, He didn’t say, "Go into your local neighborhood and call it a day." He said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations."

At Boundless Online Church, we take that "all nations" part literally. Whether someone is logging in from a high-rise in Tokyo, a farm in Brazil, or a quiet room in a hospice center, they are part of the "all."

We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online because we believe the reach of the Gospel should be, well, boundless.

Grounded in the Truth

Everything we do here is anchored in what we believe. As part of our commitment to sound doctrine, we align with the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God.

Specifically, Truth #10 focuses on "The Church and Its Mission."

It teaches us that the Church has a four-fold purpose. One of the most vital parts of that purpose is to be an agency of God for evangelizing the world.

That means we don't just exist to have nice "churchy" conversations among ourselves. We exist to be a rescue station. We are a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of believers that reflects His image to a world that is hurting and searching for hope.

When we talk about global missions, we are fulfilling that core doctrinal mission. We are taking the light into the darkness, wherever that darkness may be.

Missions in a Digital Age

The beauty of the time we live in is that the "ends of the earth" are now accessible through a fiber-optic cable or a satellite signal.

Think about the people who can’t get to a physical church building.

Maybe it’s a night-shift worker who is just getting home when the rest of the world is waking up. Maybe it’s someone living with a disability that makes travel difficult. Or maybe it’s a believer in a part of the world where it isn't safe to walk into a building with a cross on it.

For them, Boundless Online Church is a lifeline.

Global missions today looks like a community of believers gathering in online groups to pray for one another across time zones. It looks like a digital training session for someone who wants to use their phone to share the Gospel.

It’s about using every tool at our disposal to make sure no one is left behind.

Empowered for the Task

If the idea of reaching the world sounds overwhelming, that’s because it is: if you try to do it on your own.

But we aren't alone. Another one of our core beliefs involves the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers believers for life and service.

In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

That power isn't for our own entertainment. It’s for the mission. It’s the "fuel" that allows us to keep going, to keep praying, and to keep reaching out even when we’re tired.

Whether you are praying for a missionary on the other side of the planet or sharing a link to a Sunday live worship service, you are operating in that Spirit-led calling.

Who Are We Reaching?

When we say "global," we mean everyone.

We write for the spiritual seekers who are scrolling through their phones at 2:00 AM, looking for a reason to keep going.

We write for the family caregivers who are exhausted and need a word of encouragement while their loved one sleeps.

We write for people in persecuted areas who have to keep their faith a secret from their neighbors, but find community with us online.

The call to global missions is a call to see people the way Jesus sees them. He didn’t see crowds; He saw individuals who were "harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."

Every time you engage with this ministry, you’re helping us reach those people.

How You Can Join the Mission Today

You might be wondering, "What can I do right now?"

You don't have to wait for a special event or a big trip. Global missions starts with a heart that is open to God’s leading.

Here are three simple ways to engage:

1. Pray with Global Vision Don't just pray for your own needs. Take a look at the Prayer Wall. You’ll see requests from people all over. Spend a few minutes lifting up those needs. Pray for the countries where the Gospel is restricted.

2. Use Your Influence You have a digital footprint. Whether you have ten followers or ten thousand, you have an audience. Sharing a blog post, a scripture, or a word of testimony can reach someone you’ve never met. You are a digital missionary every time you post with purpose.

3. Support the Work Missions requires resources. Whether it’s keeping the servers running or creating new content like our Digital Video and Photo Training, your support helps us stay on the front lines of digital evangelism.

A Boundless Future

As we wrap up Day 29, I want you to look at that globe again: even if it’s just in your mind.

There is so much work to be done. But there is also so much hope.

The Gospel is moving. It’s crossing borders that soldiers can't cross. It’s entering homes through screens and hearts through the quiet whisper of the Holy Spirit.

You are a part of this. You aren't just a spectator; you’re a participant in the greatest rescue mission in history.

Boundless Online Church is a ministry of FA Memphis. We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online.
