Boundless Daily: The Power of the Word

Life moves fast.

Between the demands of work, the weight of family responsibilities, and the constant noise of the world around us, it’s easy to feel like you’re drifting. Maybe you’re working the late shift, or perhaps you’re at home caring for a loved one. In those quiet, often lonely hours, the questions start to surface:

Who am I? Where am I going? Does any of this actually matter?

At Boundless Online Church, we believe there is a solid place to stand. We believe there is a voice that speaks louder than the chaos and more clearly than the doubt. That voice is found in the Word of God.

If you’re new to faith or if you’ve been searching for a way to grow, you’ve probably heard people say you "should" read your Bible. But why? Is it just a religious habit, or is there something more?

Today, we want to talk about why daily reading actually changes you. It’s not about checking a box; it’s about encountering the Living God.

The Foundation: It’s More Than a Book

When we talk about the Bible, we aren’t just talking about a collection of ancient stories or a list of "do’s and don'ts."

At Boundless, our theology is rooted in the 16 Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God. The very first of these truths is that the Scriptures: both the Old and New Testaments: are verbally inspired by God.

This means the Bible is "God-breathed."

Think about that for a second. The same God who breathed stars into existence and formed the human heart breathed out these words. He used human hands to write them down over thousands of years, preserving them through history so they could land in your hands (or on your phone screen) today.

Because the Bible is inspired by God, it is the authoritative rule of faith and conduct. It doesn’t just offer good advice; it offers the truth that sets us free.

An Anchor for Your Soul

Jesus once said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away" (Matthew 24:35).

Think about how much changes in a single year. Seasons change, economies shift, health can falter, and relationships can move through different phases. If you build your life on things that change, you’ll always feel unstable.

But the Word of God is permanent.

When you read the Bible daily, you are tethering your soul to something that cannot be shaken. Whether you are in a season of great joy or sitting in a hospital waiting room, the Word remains the same. It is an anchor. It reminds you that God is faithful, even when life feels unpredictable.

Meeting the Person of Jesus

The most important reason to read the Word daily is that it points to a Person.

From the very first page of Genesis to the final "Amen" in Revelation, the Bible is a story about Jesus. He is the central focus. In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

If you are looking for a way out of a difficult situation or looking for a way forward in your life, you need to meet Jesus.

The Gospel: the "Good News": is clearly laid out in the pages of Scripture. It tells us that we have all fallen short of God’s perfect standard. We’ve all gone our own way. But because God loves us so much, He sent His Son, Jesus, to live the perfect life we couldn't live and die the death we deserved.

When Jesus rose from the grave three days later, He defeated sin and death forever.

When we read the Word, we see this beautiful plan of redemption unfolding. We realize that salvation isn't something we earn; it’s a gift we receive by faith. If you’ve never made that decision to follow Him, we invite you to explore what it means to start that journey. You can find more information on our I’m New page.

How the Word Transforms You

If you spend ten minutes a day in the Bible, you won’t just learn facts. You will experience transformation. Here is how that daily rhythm starts to change you from the inside out:

1. It Reframes Your Identity

The world is constantly trying to tell you who you are based on your job, your bank account, or your past mistakes. The Word of God tells you who you are in Christ: forgiven, chosen, and loved. Daily reading helps wash away the lies of the world and replaces them with the truth of God’s love for you.

2. It Provides Divine Guidance

Life is full of decisions. Some are small, and some are life-altering. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." When you read the Word daily, you are asking God to direct your steps. You'll find that verses you read in the morning often apply directly to a situation you face in the afternoon.

3. It Shapes Your Character

As you spend time in the Word, the Holy Spirit begins to work in your heart. You might find yourself becoming more patient with your coworkers or more forgiving toward a family member. The Word convicts us when we wander and comforts us when we are hurting. It’s an active, living force that molds us to be more like Jesus.

4. It Peace-Proofs Your Mind

We live in an anxious age. But Scripture tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. When you fill your mind with the promises of God, there is less room for the "what-ifs" of life to take root.

Practical Steps to Start Today

You don’t need to be a theologian to read the Bible. You just need a hungry heart. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by where to start, here are a few simple tips:

  • Start Small: Don't feel like you have to read ten chapters a day. Start with just one chapter or even a few verses. Consistency is more important than quantity.

  • Pick a Gospel: If you’re new, start with the Book of John. It’s a beautiful look at the life and ministry of Jesus.

  • Use Your Resources: We offer tools like the Clarion Call Bible Study to help you dive deeper into the text with others.

  • Keep it Close: Write a verse on a sticky note and put it on your mirror. Set a Bible verse as your phone’s lock screen. Carry the truth with you throughout the day.

  • Ask Questions: God isn't afraid of your questions. As you read, ask: What does this tell me about God? What does this tell me about myself? How can I apply this today?

The Word of God is alive. It is powerful. And it is waiting for you.

As you open the pages today, our prayer is that you wouldn't just see black ink on white paper, but that you would hear the voice of a Father who loves you and has a purpose for your life.

If you are struggling today, or if the Word has stirred something in your heart and you just need someone to talk to, we are here for you. You don't have to carry your burdens by yourself.
