Hey there, weary parent.
If you’re reading this, maybe you’ve just finished a double shift. Maybe you’re sitting in the car for five minutes of peace before you head inside to handle the bedtime chaos. Or maybe you’re a caregiver who hasn’t had a full night’s sleep since the mid-2010s.
We see you. More importantly, Jesus sees you.
At Boundless Online Church, we know that life doesn't always slow down for "quiet time." When the bills are stacking up and the kids need help with homework while you’re trying to prep dinner, a forty-five-minute prayer session in a cathedral feels like a pipe dream.
But here’s the good news: the Holy Spirit doesn't need a cathedral. He just needs an open heart.
Today, we’re talking about the "7-Minute Prayer." It’s a simple, consistent rhythm designed for the parent who is running on fumes but wants to stay connected to the Source of all peace.
Why 7 Minutes?
You might be thinking, "Is seven minutes really enough to talk to the Creator of the universe?"
In the Assemblies of God tradition, we believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to move instantly. We believe that salvation is a gift and that God’s grace is sufficient for us exactly where we are. If you have hours to spend in intercession, that’s wonderful. But if all you have is the time it takes for a pot of coffee to brew, God is ready to meet you there.
Jesus told us in Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
He didn’t say, "Come to me once you’ve cleared your schedule." He said, "Come to me because you are burdened."
The 7-minute prayer isn't about checking a box. It’s about creating a "thin place" in your busy day where the peace of God can break through the noise of the world.

Breaking Down Your 7 Minutes
If you’re not sure how to start, try this simple breakdown. You can do this in the kitchen, in the breakroom at work, or even while you’re folding a mountain of laundry.
Minute 1: The "Be Still" Minute
Start by just breathing. In our fast-paced world, we are constantly "on." Take sixty seconds to acknowledge that God is in the room with you. You don’t even have to say anything yet. Just remind your soul that you aren't doing this life alone.
Minutes 2-3: Gratitude and Praise
Even on the hardest days, there is something to be thankful for. Maybe it’s the way your toddler laughed this morning, or the fact that your car started today. We believe that praise shifts our perspective. When we focus on who Jesus is, our Healer, our Provider, and our King, our problems start to look a little smaller in comparison to His greatness.
Minutes 4-5: Releasing the Burden
This is the part where you get real. Tell God about the stress of the double shift. Tell Him about the worry you have for your child’s future. In these two minutes, "cast your cares on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). Don't try to sound religious. Just talk to Him like your best friend. He already knows what’s on your heart; He just wants to hear it from you.
Minute 6: Praying for Your Household
Your kids need your prayers more than they need a perfect parent. Spend one minute asking the Holy Spirit to guard their hearts and minds. Pray for their safety, their friends, and their walk with God. If you’re a caregiver for an aging parent, ask for patience and strength for the tasks ahead.
Minute 7: Listening and Surrender
End your time by asking, "Lord, what do You have for me today?" Then, be quiet. Sometimes God speaks through a scripture that pops into your head, a feeling of peace, or a sudden realization. End with a simple "Amen," and go back into your day knowing you are empowered by the Spirit.
The Gospel for the "Double-Shift" Life
One of our core beliefs at Boundless is that Jesus provides the peace parents need. This isn't just a nice sentiment; it’s a spiritual reality.
We know that many of you are navigating difficult circumstances. Maybe you are part of our global community living in an area where it isn't easy to be a Christian. Or maybe your "persecution" is just the sheer exhaustion of trying to survive in an economy that demands everything from you.
The Gospel tells us that we don't have to earn God’s love. We don't have to perform for Him. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He bridged the gap between us and God forever. That means your 7-minute prayer in a messy kitchen is just as sacred as a high-production church service.

Small Steps, Big Impact
Consistency is more important than intensity when it comes to spiritual growth. If you pray for seven minutes every day this week, you’ll find that your "spiritual muscles" start to get stronger. You’ll find yourself reacting with more grace when the kids spill juice on the rug. You’ll find a bit more endurance during that last hour of your shift.

You Are Not Alone
It is easy to feel isolated when you are a parent or a caregiver. You feel like everyone else has it figured out, and you’re just barely keeping your head above water.
That’s why community matters. Even if you can’t make it to a physical building on Sunday morning, you are part of the family of God. We invite you to join us for Sunday Live Worship online whenever your schedule allows. We also have online groups where you can connect with others who are walking the same path.

Practical Tips for Busy Parents
If you’re struggling to find even seven minutes, here are a few "hacks" to help you stay connected:
The Shower Prayer: It might be the only place you’re truly alone. Use that time to talk to God.
The Commute: Turn off the radio or the podcast for the last seven minutes of your drive and use it for prayer.
Meal Prep Prayer: As you’re making lunches or dinner, pray over each person who will be eating that food.
Digital Reminders: Set an alarm on your phone for a time when you usually feel a "slump" (like 2:00 PM) to remind you to take a quick minute to breathe and pray.
Remember, the goal isn't perfection. The goal is connection.
Growing in Faith Together
As we move through March, we want to encourage you to keep seeking the Word. If you’re new to this whole "online church" thing, or if you’re just trying to get back into a rhythm with God, you might find our Ultimate Guide to AI and Faith helpful for understanding how we use technology to spread the message of Jesus.
We also have a Prayer Wall where you can post your requests and pray for others in our community. There is something powerful about knowing that someone on the other side of the world is lifting you up in prayer.

A Final Word of Encouragement
Parenting is a high calling. Caregiving is a high calling. Working hard to provide for your family is a high calling. Do not let the enemy tell you that your life is "too secular" or "too busy" for God.
God is in the laundry. God is in the spreadsheets. God is in the late-night feedings.
He loves you, He is for you, and He is with you.
Take those seven minutes today. Give them to Him, and see how He begins to transform your heart and your home.
