Reclaiming peace starts by recognizing you are a new creation in Christ, shifting your focus from the weight of last week's failures to the grace of this morning's restoration. When we align our hearts with the truth that old things have passed away, we can approach a hectic Monday with the quiet confidence that God is already moving in our circumstances.

Explanation

We’ve all been there. The alarm goes off on Monday morning, and before your feet even hit the floor, your mind is already racing through a checklist of demands, deadlines, and perhaps the lingering "ashes" of a difficult weekend. Maybe you didn’t rest as much as you wanted to, or maybe a conversation didn’t go the way you hoped. Suddenly, the "peace that transcends understanding" feels like a distant memory from Sunday morning service rather than a present reality for your work week. But here is the beautiful truth: your peace isn't tied to your productivity, and it isn't dependent on how smoothly your Monday morning commute goes. Your peace is anchored in the person of Jesus Christ, who makes all things new.

This Monday, we are leaning into our theme of Monday Moments: From Ashes to Restoration. I want to talk to you about what it looks like to truly reclaim that peace when the world feels like it's shouting for your attention. Reclaiming peace isn't just about "stress management" in a secular sense; it’s about spiritual alignment. We have to remember that because of what Jesus did on the cross, we aren't just improved versions of ourselves. We are brand-new creations. The failures of last Friday or the anxieties of Sunday night don't have the legal right to govern your Monday because you are operating under a new covenant of grace.

In our walk of faith, we have to recognize that the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. This means we trust in the absolute authority of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit to transform our daily lives. When we feel overwhelmed, we aren't just left to our own devices. We have the Holy Spirit: the Comforter: living within us. Restoration isn't just something that happened once when you were saved; it is a daily, ongoing work. Every Monday is a fresh opportunity to see God bring beauty out of the ashes of our past mistakes or our current stressors.

Practically speaking, how do we do this when the emails are piling up? I’ve found that the best way to reclaim peace is to stop trying to "find" it and start "receiving" it. Peace is a fruit of the Spirit, which means it’s already inside you if you belong to Christ. Sometimes we just need to clear away the clutter to let it shine through. I often recommend taking small "micro-breaks" throughout the day to reconnect with God. This isn't just a mental health tip; it’s a spiritual discipline. Try the "box breathing" technique: inhaling for four seconds, holding for four, exhaling for four: but do it while reciting a name of God or a short verse like "The Lord is my Shepherd." You’ll find that as your heart rate slows down, your spirit begins to settle into His presence.

Another way to restore your peace is to be intentional about what you are consuming. If your Monday is already hectic, the last thing you need is a social media feed full of comparison or a news cycle designed to trigger fear. We talk a lot about being "Boundless" in our reach, but that doesn't mean we should be "Boundless" in our exposure to toxic content. Guard your digital gates. If you’re looking for family-safe entertainment to wind down after a long day, I always point people toward clean versions of media via VidAngel or "Enjoy Movies Your Way." It’s much easier to keep your peace when you aren't fighting off the spiritual static of inappropriate content. For those with kids or who just want that extra layer of accountability, tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes are essential for keeping your digital home a sanctuary of restoration rather than a source of stress.

Restoration also involves movement and melody. The research tells us that a brisk walk or a playlist of worship music can literally lower our cortisol levels. But as believers, we know it’s deeper than biology. When we move our bodies, we are honoring the temple of the Holy Spirit. When we play music that honors God, we are changing the atmosphere of our workspace. I’ve seen firsthand how a testimony of restoration can start with something as simple as a person deciding to praise God in the middle of a chaotic office. You might be the only light in your workplace today, and that light shines brightest when you are operating from a place of settled peace.

If you’re feeling like you’re sitting in the ashes today: maybe you’re dealing with a loss, a career setback, or just a heavy cloud of depression: know that you are never forgotten, you are never alone, and you are deeply loved by God. He is the God of the "Again." He can do it again. He can restore your joy again. He can provide for your needs again. Don't let the enemy convince you that this Monday is just another step toward burnout. Instead, see it as a step toward the restoration He has promised. You are a new creation. The old is gone; the new has come.

As you go through the rest of your day, I want to challenge you to schedule something restorative for this evening. Don't just collapse into bed. Take fifteen minutes to read a Psalm, have a meaningful conversation with a friend, or simply sit in silence and thank God for three specific things. Action leads to clarity. When we move toward God, His peace moves toward us in ways we can't even explain. You don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders; Jesus already carried the cross so that you wouldn't have to. Rest in that today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You that Your mercies are new every single morning. I pray for my friend reading this right now who feels overwhelmed by the weight of this Monday. I ask that You would settle their spirit and remind them that they are a new creation in You. Help them to see the restoration You are working out in their lives, even in the middle of the hectic moments. Let Your peace, which transcends all understanding, guard their heart and mind today. We trade our ashes for Your beauty. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
