Christian Living : Looking for Divine Healing? Here Are 5 Things You Should Know

Jul 21
5 min read

Seeking divine healing means connecting with the Holy Spirit's power through prayer, wise counsel, and supportive communities of faith. Whether through prayer, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or trusted believers who will stand with you, God’s grace is available to restore your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being today.

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” , Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” , James 5:14-15 (NKJV)

“When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: ‘He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.’” , Matthew 8:16-17 (NKJV)

Welcome home. If you are reading this, I want you to know right now that you are never forgotten, you are never alone, and you are deeply loved by God. Life has a way of throwing heavy things at us, illness, trauma, emotional exhaustion, but I believe with all my heart that our God is still the Great Physician. Wherever you are in the world, the Holy Spirit is moving, and Jesus still heals.

When we talk about divine healing, we aren’t just talking about a lucky break or a medical mystery. We are talking about a provision made for us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. At Boundless, and within our broader fellowship, the Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. This means we believe that deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers. It isn’t something we have to beg for as if God is holding out on us; it is a gift we receive through faith.

If you’re searching for a breakthrough, here are five key things you should know about seeking divine healing.

1. The Holy Spirit is Active and Empowering

The first thing to understand is that divine healing and the baptism of the Holy Spirit go hand-in-hand. All around the world, believers recognize that the Holy Spirit isn’t just a theological concept, He is a living presence. The Holy Spirit Baptism is meant to empower us for life and service, and often, that empowerment includes the gift of healing.

When we pray for the sick, we aren’t relying on our own strength or the eloquence of our words. We are making ourselves a conduit for the Spirit. If you are seeking healing, I encourage you to also seek a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. Ask for that baptism, that filling, that allows His power to flow through every cell of your body and every corner of your mind.

2. Dedicated Healing Prayer and Pastoral Care Exists

Many churches and ministries around the world make prayer for the sick and spiritual restoration a clear priority. These aren't just places to sit in a pew; they are places designed for encounter with Jesus, wise pastoral care, and Spirit-led prayer.

If you’re not sure where to start, look for a Bible-believing church that will follow James 5 by praying with faith, anointing with oil when appropriate, and walking with you over time. There is something powerful about the “corporate anointing”, when a body of believers stands together, believing for your miracle.

3. Integrated Spiritual and Clinical Care

I often tell people that God works through miracles, and He also works through medicine and wise counsel. Around the world, many believers are blessed to have professionals who integrate biblical principles with clinical excellence. If your need for healing is emotional or tied to trauma, consider reaching out to a licensed counselor who respects your faith.

This is important because sometimes the “sickness” we feel is a wounded spirit or a fractured mind. God wants you whole, body, soul, and spirit. Seeking professional help while simultaneously pressing into prayer isn't a lack of faith; it’s using every tool God has provided for your restoration.

4. Spaces for Rest and Self-Healing

Healing often requires us to slow down. It’s hard to hear the "still, small voice" of God when the noise of the world is at full volume. Retreats, quiet days, and unplugged time can be opportunities to step away from the grind and focus entirely on your spiritual wellness.

I highly recommend taking time for a "digital detox" during your healing journey. If you’re spending your recovery time watching media, I suggest using family-safe platforms like VidAngel or “Enjoy Movies Your Way” to ensure what you’re putting into your eyes and ears is uplifting and clean. To keep your digital environment safe during vulnerable times, I also recommend tools like Bark and Covenant Eyes for accountability. Protecting your peace is part of the healing process.

5. You Have a Global Support System

Even when you have great local support, healing can sometimes feel like a lonely road, especially if you are homebound. This is why Boundless Online Church exists. We want to be your bridge to a community that prays without ceasing. You don’t have to be physically present in a building to receive a move of the Holy Spirit.

Whether you are looking for a Bible study to strengthen your faith or a prayer wall where you can post your needs, we are here for you 24/7. Divine healing isn’t limited by geography. The same Spirit that moved in the Upper Room is the same Spirit moving through your screen right now. We believe in miracles, and we believe in the power of a connected, global church to stand in the gap for one another.

Practical Steps for Your Journey

If you are looking for a miracle today, start by simple obedience to the Word. Call for the elders, or reach out to a community of faith. Immerse yourself in the promises of Scripture. Don't let the enemy tell you that God has passed you by. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Remember that healing is a journey, and sometimes it's a process. Stay persistent. Keep your heart open to the Holy Spirit Baptism, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. You are a priceless child of God, and He desires for you to walk in the fullness of life.

A Prayer for Your Healing

*Heavenly Father, I come to You today on behalf of my friend reading this. Lord, You know every pain, every worry, and every diagnosis. I ask right now for the power of the Holy Spirit to surge through them. By the stripes of Jesus, we claim healing and wholeness. Remove every spirit of heaviness and replace it with Your peace. Strengthen their faith and lead them to the right resources and community wherever they are. Thank You for being our Healer and our Hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.*
