Christian Living : Looking For Divine Healing? Here Are 10 Things You Should Know

Looking for divine healing is a journey of faith that connects our physical needs with God’s infinite power. It involves understanding that through the Holy Spirit and the finished work of Jesus Christ, restoration is possible today. Whether you are seeking physical, emotional, or spiritual renewal, God’s grace is boundless.

Scripture Foundations:

  • "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." : Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)

  • "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up." : James 5:14-15 (NKJV)

  • "He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." : Psalm 107:20 (NKJV)

I know what it’s like to stand at a crossroads where your physical strength is failing and you’re looking for something: Someone: to intervene. All around the world, many are searching for Divine Healing, wondering if the miracles we read about in the New Testament are still available for us today. The short answer is a resounding yes. But navigating the space of spiritual healing requires a solid foundation so that our faith remains anchored even when the storm is loud.

1. Healing is Provided in the Atonement

The first thing you should know is that healing isn't just a "bonus" of the Christian life; it is part of the package deal of salvation. When we look at Isaiah 53:5 and Matthew 8:17, we see that Jesus didn't just carry our sins; He carried our sicknesses and infirmities. This means that when we approach God for healing, we aren't asking for a favor that He hasn’t already made provision for. We are standing on the finished work of Christ.

2. God’s Nature is to Heal

Sometimes we get caught up in wondering if it is "God’s will" to heal us. Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus moving with compassion. He never turned away someone who came to Him seeking restoration. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. While we don't always understand the timing or the "how," we can always trust the "Who." His character is one of love and wholeness.

3. The Power of Holy Spirit Baptism

When we talk about divine healing, we cannot ignore the person of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit Baptism is a vital experience for the believer, providing the "dunamis" (power) that Jesus promised in Acts 1:8. This empowerment isn't just for speaking in tongues; it’s for living a life marked by the supernatural. When we are filled with the Spirit, we become conduits of His healing power, allowing His life to flow through us to a world that is hurting.

4. Faith is a Relationship, Not a Formula

I’ve seen people get frustrated because they think faith is a coin you put into a vending machine to get a miracle out. Faith is actually a relationship of trust. It’s about being present with the Father and knowing that He has your best interests at heart. As we walk through our everyday lives, our faith should be a quiet confidence in His ability to do what He said He would do.

5. The Prayer of Faith and Anointing

The Bible gives us clear instructions on what to do when we are sick. James 5 tells us to call for the elders and be anointed with oil. There is something powerful about the community coming together and placing their hands on someone in the name of Jesus. It’s an act of submission and an act of collective faith. Assemblies of God worldview IS the guardrails. This means we stick to the scriptural mandate: praying in the name of Jesus and trusting the Holy Spirit to move.

6. Healing Can Be Instant or Progressive

We love the stories of the "suddenly," where a person stands up from a wheelchair or a tumor disappears. But sometimes, healing is a process. Jesus once prayed for a blind man twice before his vision was fully restored. Whether it happens in a blink of an eye or over several months, the source is the same. Don't let the "wait" discourage you; the Lord is still working even in the quiet moments.

7. Saturday Sabbath: The Importance of Rest

Since today is Saturday, I want to remind you that healing often requires us to slow down. Our culture is obsessed with "the grind," but God established the Sabbath for a reason. Rest is a spiritual discipline. When we rest, we are essentially saying, "God, I trust that You can handle the world while I sleep." Refreshment comes when we are present in His presence, setting aside our to-do lists to simply be loved by Him.

8. Use Wisdom with Medicine

Seeking divine healing does not mean you have to reject medical science. We believe that all truth is God’s truth. If a doctor can help you, praise God for the wisdom He gave that doctor! We pray for the supernatural while being thankful for the natural means of recovery. God is the ultimate Healer, whether He uses a surgeon’s hand or a sovereign touch from heaven.

9. Guarding Your Mind and Media

In your journey for healing, what you feed your soul matters. If you’re spending your time watching things that drain your spirit or fill you with anxiety, it’s hard to stay in a place of faith. For my family, we use tools like VidAngel or “Enjoy Movies Your Way” to make sure we are watching clean, family-safe versions of media. We also recommend using Bark or Covenant Eyes for online safety and accountability. Keeping your environment "clean" helps you stay focused on the promises of God.

10. You Are Not Alone

The search for healing can feel lonely, especially if you’ve been struggling for a long time. But you are never forgotten and never alone. You are deeply loved by God. Being part of a spiritual community provides the "safety net" of prayer and encouragement you need when your own strength is low. We are called to bear one another's burdens, and that includes the burden of sickness.

A Prayer for Your Healing

Father, I come to You right now on behalf of the person reading this. You know the pain they feel and the hope they are holding onto. I ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to touch their body, mind, and spirit. We believe in Your promise that by Your stripes we are healed. Give them peace during the wait and strength for the journey. Let them feel Your presence more tangibly today than ever before. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
