But the biblical picture is much more grounded, vibrant, and exciting than that. God isn't just taking us away to a distant place; He is bringing Heaven down to a renewed Earth.
Restoration, Not Just Replacement
The Greek word used for "new" in Revelation 21 is kainos. This doesn’t just mean something brand new in terms of time (like a fresh loaf of bread), but something new in quality. It’s a restoration. Think of it like a master craftsman taking a beautiful, ruined antique and restoring it to its original glory: only better.
