A Message from FA Memphis
The deity of Jesus Christ matters for your daily life because it ensures that the One who loves you is also the One who has all power over your circumstances, your past, and your future—giving you an unbreakable source of hope and strength.
Bible Verses to Carry With You
John 1:1, 14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."
Colossians 2:9 "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form."
Hebrews 1:3 "The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word."
Matthew 1:23 "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God with us’)."
Philippians 2:6 "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage."
Who Do You Say I Am?
If you were to walk down the street and ask a dozen different people who Jesus is, you’d get a dozen different answers.
Some would call Him a teacher.
Some would say prophet.
Some would say, “I’m not sure.”
But here’s why this matters so personally: when you feel unseen, behind, not enough, or alone—ideas won’t hold you up.
Only a living Savior can.
For us at Boundless Online Church, and as a core tenet of the Assemblies of God (Truth #4), we believe Jesus isn’t just a “good man.”
We believe He is God.
That means you aren’t trying to fix your life with inspiration.
You’re being loved, led, and held by the One who has authority over sin, shame, fear, and even death.
And that’s where real security starts.

The Eternal Son: He Didn't Start in a Manger
When we think about Jesus, our minds often go straight to the Christmas story: the star, the shepherds, and the baby in the straw. While that’s a beautiful part of the story, the deity of Christ tells us that Jesus didn't begin in Bethlehem.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the "Eternal Son." This means He has always existed. Before the stars were hung in space, before time began, Jesus was there. As John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word."
He wasn't a created being like the angels or like us. He is the Creator. When God said, "Let there be light," Jesus was there, active and present. Understanding His deity means recognizing that He is self-existent and self-sufficient. He doesn't need us, yet He chose to love us.
This can be a hard concept to wrap our heads around, especially when we are dealing with life's hardest questions. But there is a deep comfort in knowing that the One we follow is the One who holds the entire universe together.
The Virgin Birth: The Great Intersection
How does God become a man? The "how" is found in the miracle of the virgin birth. This is Truth #4 in action: the divine nature meeting human flesh.
By being born of a virgin, Jesus bypassed the "sin nature" that we all inherit. He was fully human: He got tired, He got hungry, and He felt pain: but He was also fully God. He was the perfect bridge.
Think of it this way: to reach us, God had to become one of us. But to save us, He had to be more than us. This is the beauty of the Incarnation. God didn't shout instructions from a distance; He moved into the neighborhood.

The Authority to Forgive
One of the most striking things about Jesus during His time on earth wasn't just the miracles He performed, but the authority with which He spoke.
In the Gospels, Jesus did things only God is supposed to do. He didn't just pray for people to be healed; He commanded it. He didn't just talk about the wind and waves; He told them to be quiet, and they obeyed.
But the real "mic drop" moment was when He told people, "Your sins are forgiven." The religious leaders of the day were outraged. They asked, "Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And they were exactly right. By forgiving sins, Jesus was making a clear claim to be God.
If you've ever wondered about the roots of these beliefs, you can read more about how the Assemblies of God movement began and why these truths remain non-negotiable for us today.
The Resurrection: The Final Proof
If the life of Jesus was a series of claims to deity, the Resurrection was the evidence that closed the case.
Anyone can claim to be God, but only God has power over death. When Jesus walked out of that tomb on the third day, He proved that His claims were true. He showed that He has the keys to death and the grave.
This is why the deity of Christ is so central to our Sunday live worship. We aren't worshipping a dead hero or a historical figure. We are worshipping a living Savior who is reigning as the Lord of all.

Why Does This Matter to You?
This matters because a lot of what we call “fear” is really something deeper:
“I’m alone in this.”
“I’m not enough.”
“I don’t have what it takes.”
“I can’t change.”
“I’m one phone call away from everything falling apart.”
The deity of Jesus Christ speaks directly to those places.
Because if Jesus is God, then the One who knows you best also has the power to hold you steady.
Your Worth: You’re Not an Accident or an Afterthought
If Jesus is God, then your life has weight and meaning.
God didn’t send a distant messenger.
He came Himself.
When you feel unlovable, rejected, or like you’ve failed too many times, the cross says, “You’re worth coming for.”
And you don’t have to earn that worth.
You receive it.
Your Security: You’re Not Being Held by a “Maybe”
Some people carry faith like a “maybe.”
Maybe God cares.
Maybe He hears me.
Maybe He’ll show up this time.
But the deity of Christ means His promises aren’t wishful thinking.
When Jesus says He will never leave you or forsake you, He has the authority to keep that promise.
When He says you can be forgiven, He has the power to actually wash your past clean.
When He calls you His own, He isn’t guessing.
Power Over Fear: You Don’t Have to White-Knuckle Life
Fear loves isolation.
It tells you to hide, to self-protect, to assume the worst.
But Jesus being God means fear doesn’t get the final word.
He is Lord over storms, Lord over sickness, Lord over sin, Lord over death—and Lord over what keeps you up at night.
That’s the “calm power” we’re talking about.
Not because life is easy.
But because your Savior is strong.
A Prayer of Recognition
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge You today as the eternal Son of God. Thank You for leaving the glory of heaven to meet us here on earth. I believe that You are fully God and fully man, and that through Your life, death, and resurrection, I can have a relationship with the Father. Help me to live in the light of Your authority and Your love every single day. Amen.
