“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins.” 1 John 1:9.
Welcome to the Boundless Bible Study Podcast. I’m Dr. Layne McDonald, and I’m really glad you are here. Today’s Bible study is called When You Need a Fresh Start, and we are looking at what God’s Word says about grace, repentance, and beginning again.
First John 1:9 tells us that when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us. That is not God reluctantly tolerating you. That is the promise of a faithful Father who made a way through Jesus Christ.
Second Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” In Christ, your past is not the final word over your life. Sin is serious, but grace is stronger. Failure is real, but it does not have to be your identity.
Lamentations 3 says God’s mercies are new every morning. That does not mean yesterday did not matter. It means yesterday does not get to own tomorrow when your life is surrendered to God.
Repentance is not just feeling bad. It is turning toward God. It is agreeing with Him, receiving His mercy, and walking in a new direction by the power of the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 24:16 says though the righteous fall, they rise again. The enemy wants falling to become your name. God calls you to rise.
So if you need a fresh start, come honestly to Jesus. Do not hide. Do not perform. Do not wait until you feel worthy. Confess, receive grace, and take the next faithful step.

Let me close with Joel 2:13: “Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate.”
Lord, thank You for mercy that meets us and grace that restores us. Amen.
