Welcome back to the Boundless Daily. We are on Day 14 of our journey together, and today we are leaning into something that feels both massive and deeply personal.
For many of us, the word "Church" conjures up images of steeples, pews, and stained glass. But if you’re reading this while sitting in a hospital waiting room, or during your 15-minute break on the night shift, or from a bed you haven’t been able to leave in weeks, you know that "Church" has to be something more than a building.
The good news? It is.
Today, we are exploring the Assemblies of God Fundamental Truth #10: The Church and Its Mission. This isn’t just a dry doctrinal statement. It’s a divine commission, a purpose that gives weight and glory to your every breath, no matter where you are in the world.
The Church is Not a Building, It’s a People
Let’s clear the air right away. The Church is the Body of Christ. It’s the "ekklesia", the called-out ones. When we talk about the mission of the Church, we aren’t talking about what a non-profit organization does between 9:00 AM and noon on a Sunday. We are talking about what you do as a living, breathing temple of the Holy Spirit.
The Church is the inhabitancy of God through the Spirit. It is divinely appointed for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Every believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, which are written in heaven.
Whether you are gathered with thousands in a stadium or you are the only Christian in your apartment complex, you are the Church. You are part of a global, spiritual movement that transcends borders, languages, and physical limitations.

The Heart of the Mission: The Gospel
Before we can talk about what we do, we have to remember what has been done.
The Gospel is the foundation of our commission. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived a perfect life, died a sacrificial death on the cross, and rose again on the third day. Why? To reconcile us to God.
Sin had created a gap we couldn’t bridge. Jesus became the bridge. Because of His victory over death, we are no longer strangers or orphans; we are sons and daughters of the King.
Now, we are His ambassadors. An ambassador doesn't represent themselves; they represent the kingdom they come from. Our mission is to carry the message of that reconciliation to every corner of the earth. We aren't just telling people to "be good"; we are telling them that they can be made new.
The Four-Fold Mission of the Church
According to the Assemblies of God Fundamental Truths, the Church has a very specific, four-fold reason for being. As you read these, ask yourself: How does this look in my life right now?
1. To Be an Agency of God for Evangelizing the World
The primary mission is to seek and save that which is lost. This is the "Go" of the Great Commission. It’s about sharing the hope of Jesus with those who don’t know Him yet. It’s about reaching out to the marginalized, the forgotten, and the seeker.
2. To Be a Corporate Body in Which Man May Worship God
We were created for worship. The Church exists to provide a community where we can collectively lift up the name of Jesus. Even if you are joining us via our Sunday Live Worship, you are participating in this corporate act of honoring our Creator.
3. To Be a Channel of God’s Purpose to Build a Body of Saints
We are called to "edify" one another. That’s a fancy way of saying we build each other up. The Church is meant to help believers grow into the image of Christ. We learn together, pray for one another, and hold each other steady when the world gets shaky.
4. To Be a People Who Demonstrate God’s Love and Compassion
Finally, the Church is called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We show the world what God is like by how we care for the poor, the sick, and the suffering. Our mission includes meeting physical needs and showing radical kindness.

The Missionary in the Living Room
Now, let’s talk specifically to those of you who feel "outside" the traditional church loop.
Maybe you’re a caregiver who hasn’t stepped inside a church building in three years because your loved one needs 24/7 care. Maybe you’re a shift worker who is sleeping when the bells are ringing. Maybe you’re housebound due to chronic illness.
Does the "Divine Commission" still apply to you?
Absolutely.
In fact, you are a missionary in a field that many "traditional" church-goers will never reach. Your mission field is your digital connection. It’s the text message you send to a struggling friend. It’s the way you speak to the nurse who comes to check your vitals. It’s the quiet, persistent prayer you offer up in the middle of the night for a world in pain.
You don't need a pulpit to have a ministry. You have a mission field right where you are. Your quiet service, your patience in suffering, and your digital presence are powerful tools in the hands of God. When you share a link to a Bible study or post a word of encouragement on our Prayer Wall, you are fulfilling the mission of the Church.
Boundless Connections
In a world that is increasingly digital, the "Divine Commission" hasn't changed, but the tools have. At Boundless Online Church, we believe that the internet is one of the greatest mission fields in history.
Through technology, we can reach people in closed countries. We can sit at the bedside of the lonely. We can provide a community for the shift worker who feels like a ghost in their own city.
The Church is moving beyond walls. We are using every resource, including AI and new technology, to multiply the message of Jesus. We are committed to helping you find your place in this mission, regardless of your physical location or schedule.
Living the Mission Today
So, what does it look like to live out "The Divine Commission" today? Here are a few practical steps:
Worship where you are: Take five minutes today to simply thank God for who He is. You don't need music; you just need a heart of gratitude.
Identify your "One": Who is one person in your life, online or in person, who needs to know they are loved by God? Pray for them specifically today.
Edify someone: Send a message to a fellow believer. Tell them you’re glad they are part of the Body of Christ.
Seek help when you need it: Part of being in the "Body" is letting others support you. If you’re feeling disconnected, learn how to get plugged in fast.

A Global Body
The beauty of the AG Fundamental Truth #10 is its global scope. It reminds us that we are part of something much bigger than our local context. When we pray, we are joining voices with millions of believers across the globe. When we give, we are supporting a mission that reaches every tribe and tongue.
The Church is a glorious, messy, diverse, and powerful family. And you are a vital part of it. Your mission is not on hold because of your circumstances. Your commission is active right now.
You are called. You are equipped. You are the Church.
