Boundless Daily: Global Micro-Study - Day 3: The One True God (Redo)

Hey there, and welcome back to our Global Micro-Study. Whether you are catching this on a quick break during a double shift, reading by the dim light of a hospital room while caregiving, or scrolling through this in a place where following Jesus isn't exactly easy, we are so glad you’re here.

You belong here. Your questions are welcome here. And most importantly, the God we’re talking about today sees exactly where you are sitting right now.

Today is Day 3 of our journey through the foundational truths that anchor our faith. If you missed our first few steps, you can always catch up on Day 1: The Word That Never Changes.

Today, we are diving into one of the most powerful and beautiful realities of our faith: The One True God.

Who Are We Talking About?

In a world filled with a million different opinions, philosophies, and "spiritualities," it can get pretty noisy. Everyone seems to have a different idea of who: or what: is in charge. But when we look at the Bible, we see something very specific and very personal.

We believe in the One True God. This isn't just a generic "higher power" or a distant force in the universe. We are talking about the eternally self-existent "I AM." He is the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of all mankind.

Think about that for a second. The same God who spoke galaxies into existence is the same God who wants to redeem your story. He isn’t just a God of the "big things"; He is the God of your things.

The Mystery of the Trinity

Now, this is where it gets deep, but stick with me. As we look at the second Fundamental Truth of the Assemblies of God, we see that God has revealed Himself as one God, but embodying the principles of relationship as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We often use the word "Trinity." While that specific word isn't in the Bible, the concept is woven into almost every page.

Imagine it this way:

The Father: The One who loves us with an everlasting love, who planned our redemption before time began. The Son (Jesus): God with skin on. The One who walked our dusty floors, felt our pain, and gave His life so we could be close to Him again. The Holy Spirit: God’s presence with us right now. He is the Comforter, the Teacher, and the One who gives us the strength to get through the night.

It’s one God, three persons. It sounds like a mystery because it is. If we could fit God entirely inside our human brains, He wouldn't be much of a God, would He? But even though we can't fully "solve" the mystery, we can fully experience the relationship.

Why This Matters for the Shift Worker and the Caregiver

You might be wondering, "Penny, this sounds like a lot of theology. How does this help me when I’m exhausted at 3:00 AM?"

It matters because of relationship.

Because God exists in a relationship within Himself (Father, Son, and Spirit), He is a God of connection. He isn't a lonely deity who created us because He was bored. He created us to invite us into the love He already has.

When you feel isolated: maybe because your disability keeps you home, or your job keeps you away from a traditional church building: you aren't actually alone. The One True God is a "Boundless" God. He isn't stuck in a building. He is right there in the breakroom, the nursery, or the quiet house.

A God for the Persecuted

For those of you joining us from parts of the world where it is dangerous to say the name of Jesus, this truth is your anchor.

Many systems of belief require you to earn your way to a distant, angry god. But the One True God is different. He is the "Redeemer." He didn't wait for you to get your life together or find a safe place to worship. He came to you.

The Father sent the Son. The Son sent the Spirit.

If you are in a place where you have to hide your Bible or pray in whispers, remember that the Holy Spirit is inside you. You don't need a physical temple when the True God has made His home in your heart.

The Invitation: Meet the One True God

Maybe you’ve been "spiritual" for a long time, but you’ve never met the One True God personally. Maybe you’ve been looking for peace in all the wrong places.

The message of salvation is simple, but it changes everything.

  1. Admit: We’ve all gone our own way. We’ve all tried to be our own "god," and it hasn't worked.

  2. Believe: Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins and rose again to give you life.

  3. Confess: Tell Him. Invite Him to be the leader of your life.

When you do that, you aren't just joining a "religion." You are being adopted by the Father, saved by the Son, and filled by the Spirit. You are coming home to the One True God.
