Have you ever stood outside on a clear night, looked up at the stars, and felt that sudden, overwhelming sense of "wow"?
It’s that moment where the scale of the universe hits you. You realize just how small we are and how incredibly vast everything else is. For many of us at Boundless Online Church, that feeling of awe isn't just about astronomy; it’s about the Person behind the stars.
Welcome back to our AG Truth Deep Dive. Last time, we talked about how the Bible is our map and our anchor. Today, we’re looking at the Heart of the Map. We’re talking about Truth #2: The One True God.
If you’re a shift worker catching this during a quiet break at 3 AM, a caregiver watching over a loved one, or someone searching for hope in a place where it’s hard to find, this truth is for you. It’s not just a "church rule." It’s the foundation of everything we believe about love, purpose, and reality.
The Mystery of the Three-in-One
The Assemblies of God teaches that "The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent 'I AM,' the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind." But then it goes a step further into something beautiful and mysterious: He has also revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
This is what we call the Trinity.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit it, the Trinity is a big concept. It’s okay if it makes your brain spin a little bit. In fact, if we could fully explain God in a few simple sentences, He probably wouldn't be God!

Identity and Cooperation
In our Bible studies, we often look at how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit interact. The AG doctrine helps us understand this through four key points:
They are never identical as to Person. The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Holy Spirit.
They are never confused as to relation. There is a perfect order and relationship between them.
They are never divided in respect to the Godhead. They are not three separate "gods." They are one.
They are never opposed as to cooperation. They are always in perfect, 100% agreement.
Think about that for a second. In our world, relationships are often messy. We have disagreements, misunderstandings, and divisions. But at the very center of the universe, there is a God who is, within Himself, perfectly united, perfectly loving, and perfectly in harmony.
When we say we are made in God's image, it means we were made for that same kind of beautiful relationship. Whether you are connecting with us through Online Worship or chatting with a friend, that desire for connection comes straight from the heart of the One True God.
God the Father: The Source of Love
When we talk about God the Father, we aren't talking about a distant, angry figure in the sky. We are talking about the "I AM." He is the Creator.
Every sunrise you see, every breath you take, and every bit of beauty in the world is a gift from Him. For those of us who might feel isolated or forgotten, maybe because of a disability or a difficult work schedule, remembering God as Father is life-changing. It means you have a Source. You aren't an accident. You were willed into existence by a Father who wanted you here.

God the Son: Jesus, the Redeemer
The second Person of the Trinity is Jesus Christ. The doctrine tells us that "The Son is from the Father, as to authority." Jesus came to show us exactly what the Father is like.
If you’ve ever wondered, "Does God care about my pain?" or "Does God see me in this hospital room?" just look at Jesus. He walked where we walk. He felt what we feel. He is the bridge between our human struggles and God’s eternal holiness.
The Son is "with the Father" in fellowship. This means when we talk to Jesus, we are entering into that eternal circle of love. You can read more about how this impacts our daily walk in our Faith & Discipleship section.
God the Holy Spirit: The Present Power
Finally, we have the Holy Spirit. The doctrine explains that the Spirit "proceeds from both the Father and the Son."
The Holy Spirit is God with us right now. He is the one who comforts the caregiver in the middle of a long night. He is the one who gives strength to the believer in a persecuted area where they have to worship in secret. He is the one who prompts us to pray when we don't have the words.
The Trinity isn't just a theological chart. It’s a living, breathing reality. The Father planned our salvation, the Son paid for our salvation, and the Holy Spirit applies that salvation to our hearts and lives.
Why Does This Matter Today?
You might be thinking, "This sounds great, Penny, but I’m struggling to pay bills and my health isn't great. How does the 'One True God' help me on a Wednesday afternoon?"
It matters because of God's character. Because He is the One True God, He is:
Omnipresent: He is everywhere at once. You are never, ever alone.
Omniscient: He knows everything. He knows your needs before you even ask.
Omnipotent: He is all-powerful. No situation is too "far gone" for Him to work in.
When your world feels chaotic, you can lean on the God who is perfectly stable. When you feel unloved, you can lean on the God who is the very definition of love.

The Awe of the One True God
We call this an "awe-inspired" look because that’s the only proper response to Truth #2. When we realize that the God who created the galaxies is the same God who wants a personal relationship with us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, "awe" is the only word that fits.
At Boundless Online Church, we want to help you explore this relationship. Whether you’ve been a Christian for fifty years or you’re just starting to ask questions about who God is, there is always more to discover about His character.
We invite you to dive deeper. Check out our blog for more insights, or listen to the Connected Faith Podcast where we talk about applying these truths to real life.
