Boundless Daily: Knowing the One True God

We live in a world that is louder than it has ever been. Between the notifications on our phones, the demands of our jobs, and the constant stream of opinions on social media, it is easy to feel like we are drifting. We search for something solid: a foundation that doesn’t shift when the economy changes or when our personal lives feel a bit chaotic.

At Boundless Online Church, we believe that foundation is found in a Person. Specifically, the One True God.

If you are joining us for this Boundless Daily Micro-Study, you might be wondering why we start here. Why focus on the nature of God? The answer is simple: how you view God determines how you view everything else. It changes how you see yourself, your future, and the world around you.

Today, we are looking at the second Fundamental Truth of the Assemblies of God: The One True God. This isn't just a bit of trivia for a theology exam; it is the heartbeat of our faith. It is about moving from knowing about God to truly knowing Him.

More Than a Concept

For many people, "God" is a distant concept. He is a "higher power," a "universe," or a "cosmic force." But the Bible presents someone much more compelling.

The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM." When God spoke to Moses from the burning bush, He didn't give a complicated title. He simply said, "I AM WHO I AM." This tells us that God is independent. He doesn't need us to exist, yet He chooses to love us. He is the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind.

Think about that for a second. The same power that knit the galaxies together and set the planets in motion is the same power that is interested in your daily life. Whether you are working a double shift at a hospital, sitting in a quiet home as a caregiver, or seeking answers in a part of the world where it isn't safe to go to a physical church, this "I AM" is present with you.

The Mystery of the Trinity

One of the most beautiful: and admittedly complex: parts of knowing the one true God is understanding how He has revealed Himself. We believe in one God, but He exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

This isn't a math problem to solve; it's a relationship to enter.

God the Father loves us with a perfect, unchanging love. God the Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth to show us exactly what that love looks like in action. God the Holy Spirit lives within us, giving us the strength to live out our faith every day.

In the Assemblies of God tradition, we call this "The Adorable and Incomprehensible Trinity." We use the word "adorable" not in the way we talk about a puppy, but in the sense that God is worthy of our deepest adoration. He is a community within Himself. Because God is a Trinity, He is inherently relational. That means when He created you, He did it so you could be part of that relationship.

Intellectual Belief vs. Personal Transformation

There is a big difference between believing God exists and knowing Him. Even the research shows us that many people attend church or participate in religious activities without ever having a "heart connection" with the Creator.

In the Gospel of John, Philip: one of Jesus’ closest followers: asked Jesus to "show us the Father." Jesus’ response was heartbreakingly gentle: "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am?"

It is possible to be near the things of God and still miss God Himself.

Knowing the one true God requires more than just intellectual agreement. It requires a transformation. It starts with acknowledging that we have all gone our own way (which the Bible calls sin) and realizing that we can't bridge the gap to God on our own.

That is where Jesus comes in. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Through His sacrifice, the door is thrown wide open. When we repent: which just means turning around and walking toward Him: and accept His forgiveness, the Holy Spirit begins to change us from the inside out.

Daily Intimacy in a Digital World

How do you actually "know" someone you can't see? At Boundless Online Church, we talk a lot about daily intimacy. If you only talked to your best friend once a year, the relationship would fade. The same is true with God.

Knowing Him happens in the small moments. It’s the prayer you whisper while you’re driving to work. It’s the verse you read on your break. It’s the way you choose to trust His character even when your circumstances look bleak.

A God Who Is Good

Perhaps the most important thing to remember about the one true God is His character. He is not a distant judge waiting for you to trip up. He is a good, caring Father.

When life is hard: when the medical report is bad, when the bank account is empty, or when you feel completely alone: His character does not change. Our feelings are like the weather; they change every hour. But God is like the sun; even when the clouds hide Him, He is still there, and He is still holding everything together.

Trusting in God’s character allows you to have peace that doesn't make sense to the rest of the world. It’s a "calm power." It’s knowing that the One who created the universe is also the One who counts the hairs on your head.

Boundless Online Church was built for people who don't fit into the traditional "Sunday morning at 10 AM" box. We are here for seekers in parts of the world where following Jesus is a radical, dangerous act.

Knowing Him is the greatest adventure you will ever go on. It starts with a simple step of faith and continues through an eternity of discovering just how wide, long, high, and deep His love really is.
