Livestream vs. In-Person: Which Way to Connect Is Right for Me?

Unchurched & Dechurched Adults (Memphis & Online)
If you can gather in person, I believe that’s usually the best way to connect—because God forms us through real, face-to-face community (Acts 2). If you can’t, livestream isn’t “second best.” It’s a real bridge to worship, Scripture, and prayer until you’re able to be with people again.
Life circumstances vary—work schedules shift, health situations change, travel happens, and family needs evolve. That’s why FA Memphis (local, in the 901) offers in-person gatherings, and Boundless Online Church (global) exists as a digital bridge for those who can’t be there physically. Whether you’re with us in Cordova or joining from your living room across the country, you’re not alone.
In-Person at FA Memphis (Local: Memphis / Cordova / the 901)
If you’re in Memphis, Cordova, Bartlett, Arlington, or anywhere in the 901—and you’re able—in-person is where relationships really take root. In Acts 2, the Church didn’t grow through content consumption. It grew through devotion, shared life, prayer, and being together (Acts 2:42–47).
Our Sunday morning schedule begins with life groups and Sunday school at 9:30 am, followed by the main worship service at 10:30 am. We gather in Cordova, Tennessee, where families, individuals, singles, and seniors can connect face-to-face in a welcoming environment.
Wednesday evenings offer additional in-person opportunities with family dinner from 5:00–6:15 pm and ministry services at 6:30 pm. These midweek gatherings create space for deeper connection through shared meals and focused teaching.
In-person attendance makes room for things that are hard to replicate online: someone learning your name, praying with you in the moment, serving together, and building trust over time.

Livestream + Boundless (Global: Join From Anywhere)
If you can’t attend in person—because you’re homebound, traveling, deployed, working shifts, caregiving, exploring faith cautiously, or you simply live far from Memphis—you still deserve real community and real discipleship. That’s part of why Boundless Online Church (www.boundlessonlinechurch.org) exists.
For those unable to attend physically, we provide livestream access so you can worship and receive biblical teaching in real time. Our Sunday morning services stream live at 10:30 am (Central) and remain available afterward.
Here’s the key difference:
FA Memphis is our local church family for Memphis/Cordova/the 901—gathering, serving, growing together on the ground.
Boundless is a Kingdom bridge for people outside our area (or unable to attend locally), helping them connect to Jesus and community—without pretending geography doesn’t matter.

Biblical Foundation (Why We Value Both)
Jesus is present with His people (Matthew 18:20). And in Acts 2, we also see a clear pattern: believers gathered, devoted themselves to Scripture, prayed, broke bread, and lived on mission together (Acts 2:42–47). As a Pentecostal church, we believe the Holy Spirit still works powerfully today—often through shared worship, prayer, and community.
So here’s the balance I want you to hear (no pressure, no guilt):
If you can be there in person: I encourage you to try it. Physical community shapes us.
If you can’t: join online with confidence. God meets you there too—and Boundless helps you stay connected until your situation changes.
WHY this matters to us
At FA Memphis and Boundless, our heart is simple: help people take real steps toward Jesus, healing, and community—whether you’re local to Memphis or connecting from anywhere in the world.
Life Hack: Creating Your Home Worship Environment
Watching a church service online differs from scrolling social media or streaming entertainment. Intentionality transforms passive viewing into active worship. Here's how to create a meaningful worship environment at home:
Designate a specific space. Choose a consistent location in your home for online worship. This might be your living room, a home office, or even a quiet bedroom corner. Returning to the same spot each week creates mental association between that space and spiritual focus.
Minimize distractions. Silence phone notifications. Close unnecessary browser tabs. Let household members know you're worshiping. Treat this time with the same priority you'd give in-person attendance.
Set up comfortable seating. Arrange chairs or couches so everyone viewing has a clear sightline to the screen. Comfort matters for maintaining focus during a full service.
Prepare ahead of time. Have a Bible, notebook, and pen nearby for taking notes during the message. Pour coffee or tea before the service starts. Eliminate reasons to leave mid-service.
Engage actively. Sing along during worship music. Say prayers aloud. Respond with "Amen" during the message. Physical and vocal participation increases engagement even through a screen.
Connect with others virtually. Watch simultaneously with friends or family members who also stream services. Text prayer requests during the service. Share sermon notes afterward. Digital doesn't have to mean isolated.
Follow a routine. Watch at the actual live time (10:30 am Sundays) whenever possible rather than catching archived services randomly throughout the week. Routine builds spiritual discipline.
Dress intentionally. While pajamas might be tempting, getting dressed signals to your mind that this time is set apart. You don't need formal attire, but intentional preparation matters.
Why Both Options Matter
We've adopted a philosophy that no one is meant to go through life alone and that we are better together. This belief shapes how we approach church access.
In-person gatherings provide irreplaceable elements: spontaneous conversations in the lobby, shared meals at Wednesday dinners, physical presence during prayer ministry, and the energy of corporate worship. Many people thrive in face-to-face community environments where relationships deepen through consistent, personal interaction.
Online access removes barriers that prevent participation. New mothers with infants. Individuals with compromised immune systems. Shift workers with Sunday schedules. Elderly members with mobility challenges. Military families stationed overseas. College students studying abroad. People exploring faith who aren't ready to walk through church doors yet.
Both formats serve our vision of creating a place for every person to encounter Christ. The goal isn't choosing one over the other: it's providing pathways so circumstances never become obstacles to worship and spiritual growth.

Staying Connected Across Formats
Whether you attend in-person, online, or alternate between both, several resources help you stay connected with our church community:
Our message library archives every Sunday morning sermon with video, audio, and detailed notes. This searchable resource allows you to revisit teachings on specific topics, share messages with friends, or catch up after missing a service.
Social media and email updates keep everyone informed about upcoming events, ministry opportunities, and church-wide initiatives regardless of attendance format. Subscribe for weekly updates to stay connected with what's happening across our entire community.
Small groups and life groups offer more intimate connection points. Many groups meet in-person during the week, while others gather virtually to accommodate different schedules and locations.
