Thunder Thursday: Big Faith, Big Action

Have you ever felt the rumble of thunder shake your chest? That deep, resonating power that demands your attention? That's what big faith does: it shakes your world, stirs your spirit, and calls you into action.

Welcome to Thunder Thursday at Boundless Online Church! Today, our online pastor and leader, Dr. Layne McDonald, invites you to embrace the kind of faith that moves mountains, breaks chains, and transforms ordinary days into extraordinary testimonies. This isn't a quiet, sit-on-the-sidelines kind of faith. This is thunder faith: bold, confident, and ready to act.

You are never forgotten. You are never alone. You are deeply loved by God. And today, He's calling you to step into something bigger.

What Does "Big Faith" Really Mean?

Big faith isn't about being perfect. It's not reserved for pastors, missionaries, or people who have it all together. Big faith is simply trusting God even when you can't see the full picture.

Hebrews 11:1 reminds us:

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Big faith says, "God, I don't know how this will work out, but I trust You." It's the widow who gave her last two coins. It's David standing before Goliath with just a sling and a stone. It's you: right where you are: choosing to believe that God is working all things together for your good.

In My Weakness God Is Able

Here's your life-changing affirmation for today:

"In my weakness, God is able. His strength is made perfect in me, and I am equipped for every good work He has prepared."

Say that out loud. Write it down. Let it sink deep into your spirit.

Big Faith Requires Big Action

Faith without action is like thunder without rain: it makes noise but doesn't bring growth. James 2:17 puts it plainly:

"Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."

Dr. Layne McDonald often encourages our Boundless community: "Your faith is a verb. It's meant to move you, change you, and propel you forward."

So what does big action look like in your daily life?

1. Pray First, Worry Never

When challenges arise, your first response sets the tone for everything that follows. Instead of spiraling into anxiety, pause and pray. Philippians 4:6-7 promises:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Action step: Start each morning with a simple prayer: "Lord, I trust You with this day. Guide my steps and guard my heart."

2. Speak Life Over Your Circumstances

Your words carry power. Proverbs 18:21 says, "The tongue has the power of life and death." When you speak faith over your situation, you align yourself with God's promises instead of your problems.

Action step: Replace "I can't" with "Through Christ, I can do all things" (Philippians 4:13).

3. Step Out Even When You're Scared

Peter walked on water: until he looked at the waves. Big faith doesn't mean the absence of fear; it means moving forward despite the fear. God doesn't call the equipped; He equips the called.

Action step: Identify one thing God is prompting you to do that feels uncomfortable. Take the first step today.
