Hey there. If you’re reading this from a bed, a recliner, or a quiet room while the rest of the world seems to be rushing by outside your window, I want you to know something right away: you are not forgotten.
For many in our community, life doesn't happen in the aisles of a grocery store or the pews of a physical building. It happens within the four walls of a home. When you live with chronic pain or a disability, the world can feel very small. It can feel like you’ve been sidelined from "real" life and "real" ministry.
But at Boundless Online Church, we believe that God’s access to you is unlimited. Your physical location or your level of mobility doesn't limit His ability to work in you, through you, and for you.
Living with pain is exhausting. It’s not just the physical sensation; it’s the mental weight of wondering why. Why hasn't the healing come? What is the point of this suffering? Does God still have a plan for me if I can’t leave the house?
Let’s sit with those questions today. We aren't going to offer easy, pat answers. Instead, we’re going to look at the heart of God, the promise of healing, and the incredible purpose He has for you right where you are.
The Wrestling Match: God and My Pain
It is okay to be honest with God. One of the most beautiful things about the Bible is that it’s filled with people who were frustrated, hurting, and vocal about it. The Psalms are essentially a collection of people crying out, "How much longer, Lord?"
When you are in the middle of a flare-up or a long season of decline, it’s easy to feel like pain is a wall between you and God. But in reality, that pain can become a meeting place.
We often think we need to "power through" or put on a brave face to talk to the Creator. But Jesus, our High Priest, is someone who can sympathize with our weaknesses. He was the "Man of Sorrows," well-acquainted with grief and physical agony. He doesn't look at your pain with judgment; He looks at it with deep, abiding empathy.
Wrestling with God isn't a sign of weak faith. It’s a sign of a relationship. You don't wrestle with someone who isn't there. If you are questioning, crying out, or just sitting in silence because the words won't come, you are in the company of saints.

Divine Healing: The Provision of the Atonement
As a community that aligns with the Assemblies of God, we hold firmly to the belief that Divine Healing is a central part of the Gospel. We believe that when Jesus died on the cross, He didn't just provide a way for our sins to be forgiven, He provided for the healing of our whole selves: spirit, soul, and body.
In our 16 Fundamental Truths, we recognize that "Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers." (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James 5:14-16).
This can be a hard truth to hold when you are still hurting. You might ask, "If healing is my privilege, why am I still in this wheelchair? Why does my back still throb every morning?"
The "already but not yet" nature of God’s Kingdom means that while the victory over sickness has been won, we still live in a fallen world where we wait for the full manifestation of that victory. We pray for healing with boldness. We believe God can, and does, perform miracles today. If you need a community to stand with you in faith, check out our Prayer Wall where we lift up these needs together.
But we also recognize that while we wait for physical restoration, God is doing a work in the waiting.
Divine Comfort: The Presence in the Fire
If Divine Healing is the promise of what God can do, Divine Comfort is the reality of what He is doing right now.
The Holy Spirit is often referred to as the Comforter. Comfort isn't just a warm feeling; the original meaning of the word implies "strengthening." God doesn't just pat us on the head in our pain; He gets into the trenches with us and gives us the strength to endure.
For the homebound and those in chronic pain, Divine Comfort often looks like:
A sudden sense of peace when the anxiety of a diagnosis feels overwhelming.
The strength to be a caregiver for a loved one even when your own energy is low.
A scripture verse that seems to leap off the screen of your Boundless Daily study.
God’s grace is sufficient. That isn't a cliché; it’s a lifeline. When Paul asked for his "thorn in the flesh" to be removed, God didn't say, "No, because I want you to suffer." He said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Your weakness isn't a disqualifier. It is the very canvas God uses to show His strength.
The Purpose: Why Pain Isn't Wasted
One of the hardest parts of chronic illness is the feeling that your life is on "pause." You might feel like you are wasting your years. But in God’s economy, nothing is wasted, especially not your suffering.
Rick Warren famously said that pain is God’s megaphone. It changes us. It refines us. But more importantly, it equips us.
1. The Ministry of Empathy
When you have walked through the dark valley of chronic pain, you have a "credential" that someone who has always been healthy doesn't have. You can speak to the hurting with an authority and a tenderness that carries weight. Your struggle makes you relatable. Your faith in spite of the pain is one of the most powerful testimonies on earth.
2. The Power of Intercession
Many of our "Boundless" family members who are homebound have become the greatest prayer warriors in our church. While others are busy rushing to meetings, you have the "Unlimited Access" to sit at the feet of Jesus and intercede for a hurting world. Your prayers from your living room can move mountains on the other side of the globe.
3. Reflecting Christ’s Character
Perseverance produces character, and character produces hope. When you choose to trust God even when your body feels like it’s failing, you are reflecting the image of Christ to a world that only values strength and productivity. You are showing that a person’s value isn't found in what they can do, but in whose they are.

Finding Community When You’re Homebound
Boundless Online Church exists because we know that "church" isn't about a building, it’s about the people. We are a digital church serving those who cannot attend in person. Whether you are a shift worker, a caregiver, or someone managing a disability, you have a place here.
Isolation is the enemy’s favorite tool. He wants you to feel like you are on an island, alone in your pain. But technology has given us a way to break those walls down.
We invite you to join us for our Sunday Live Worship. You can participate, chat with others, and experience the presence of God right from your device. You can also find smaller groups of people who "get it" by looking through our groups list.
We help people meet Jesus and grow in faith online. That mission doesn't change because you have a medical appointment or because you can’t get out of bed today. In fact, that’s exactly why we’re here.
A Hope That Does Not Disappoint
The Bible ends with a promise that should be the North Star for anyone in chronic pain:
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
This is our ultimate hope. One day, every broken nerve, every inflamed joint, and every weary mind will be made perfectly whole. The "Unlimited Access" we have to God now through the Spirit will one day be face-to-face.
Until then, we walk together. We lean on His Divine Comfort. We pray for His Divine Healing. And we trust that He is using every moment of our lives, even the painful ones, for a purpose far greater than we can see.
If you are struggling today, please don't carry it alone. Our community is here to walk with you.
